  1. Have any of the IO Psych PhD applicants heard about interviews? I can't help but feel supremely nervous now that we're almost in the 3rd week of Jan. I haven't heard back about any interviews yet, should I be worried?
  2. I have a GPA related question. Due to certain circumstances outside my control I had a tough time at school during my first two years. This resulted in a very low GPA, however in my junior and senior year I was able to revive my gpa to near perfect 4.0s till I graduated. Because of the low gpas in the first two years my cumulative is still pretty low, but the jr and sr GPA is quite high. Do you think the low cumulative gpa will hinder my chances of getting accepted? I am also explaining the details of these circumstances in my SOP. Any inputs will be helpful!
  3. I haven't shortlisted which schools I will be applying to this year, I am still in the process of talking to POIs and finding out who is accepting students for next year. Anyone have their list of schools finalized yet? and if yes, then who are your professors of interest?
  4. Hi, The deadlines for fall 2014 I/O Psychology PhD applications are fast approaching! Let's see if we can help each other out with words of advice, POI details or the excruciating wait to hear back ! Good luck to everyone !
  5. One more thing, you might want to consider contacting NGOs and NPOs in Pakistan. NGOs often conduct a variety of research and require volunteers to help them develop their studies. These studies are often presented to the government or the UN etc for policy reform and or funding.
  6. Hi, I am from New Delhi and some Indian students face a similar problem (of not having well developed labs or on going research projects at Universities). My suggestion to you would be: - Contact your Psychology professors and see if they're currently working on any papers/research and if you can assist in ANY way - Contact senior professors who could connect you with professionals in your industry (talk to them about possible internship programs-even if they are unpaid) - Talk to your undergraduate institution about your dilemma and see if they may be willing to let you conduct a study under the guidance of one of your professors - If possible, reach out to Professors here in India (Delhi University, Jawaharlal University or Mumbai University) and see if they may be willing to take you on in one of their on going projects Research experience is critical while applying to graduate programs. I hope that one of the above options work out for you. You may send me a private message if you'd like to discuss this further. Good luck!
  7. Hi, I just wanted to ask you what kinds of questions your unofficial interview consisted of? Also, how did you contact your POIs to get these interviews? I am new to the process and just wanted to understand how to contact POIs, what to say etc. I had applied for Fall 2013 but unfortunately I did not make any contact with POIs because of which I didn't get any offers.
  8. Hi, I don't think its early. I am also applying for 2014 PhDs and I have made contact with most of my POIs. I plan on finishing the application process by November. In addition, if anyone has any more advice on how to make contact with/convince POIs , it'll be very helpful!
  9. Pardon my ignorance but does this mean that all acceptances letters have been sent out and that all spots have been filled by applicants?
  10. I'll definitely let you know if I hear something. Good luck again!
  11. Ah okay, as you said 'you live you learn'! I really hope your assumptions are true Dr. Craig did mention that everyone should hear by the middle of the month.
