  1. In my experience Berkeley is a very clinical track. It might depend on the concentration. I am in one of the direct practice concentrations, and all of my coursework this semester is clinical. @pickfights in my opinion the TA experience could easily be framed as social work related.
  2. I'm in a direct practice concentration at UC Berkeley-- it is heavily clinical!
  3. UC Berkeley currently requires the GRE but there's talk of them getting rid of it. In the meantime, they don't look at the math score. Some of our math scores were in the 20th percentile! Admissions departments will give you information about how much weight they put on the scores, and sometimes they will tell you the range. This information should help you decide whether or not to retake that lame-o exam. Good luck!
  4. pending to rejected here. good luck out there!
  5. Be sure to login to your Sac State account to see their admission decision. I found out that way rather than email or phone call. They gave me 10 days to hold my spot. Good luck!
  6. Current students are telling me that the program is a huge workload, very rigorous. My friend in the program always looks exhausted. I got in but I may not accept because I am worried about whether or not I can swing it. Berkeley students have the highest pass rate for California licensure. A friend in the program says that despite the workload, she is happy and is encouraging me to go for it! I don't know!
  7. I just want to take a moment to enjoy this window of HOPE!! Good luck all. May we all find our way through this tumultuous process.
  8. I think that the CSU folks need an extension through May/June/July to answer this question
  9. the card i received when i submitted my application also said "by april". but... last year people were hearing back as late as july. in any case, has anyone been "referred to department" yet? it seems that sfsu is slower to update their online portal than other UC and CSU programs.
  10. Snail mail responses from schools in 2014. Really?!?!
  11. Thank you for all the responses! I must say that in my case, I feel A LOT less stressed now that all my applications are complete. Working on applications was really hard work for me. It was like a fulltime job. It feels wonderful to have some free time back! Of course, waiting presents a whole new set of challenges...
  12. i heard through a friend that called the department
  13. haha phew! how nerve-wracking is this process?! i heard we might be hearing back next week. good luck everyone!!
  14. @esimanon, I think your intention with the google docs is very good, but your repeated and cross post reminders are getting spam-ey. I do not feel comfortable entering my personally identifiable information into the spreadsheet. Your messages have been seen. People will enter their data if they wish. Thank you for understanding!
  15. are you taking your fall 2014 spot at CSUEB? what are some pros and cons of program?
  16. hi again, i am not giving up this conversation any one else feeling anxious about SFSU Fall 2014 MSW program? let's please discuss!
  17. So...some schools will let us know if we are accepted as early as February while other schools (achem-- CSUs) might not notify us until July. As my first choice program typically notifies students in July, I am not sure how to handle earlier acceptances (if I am lucky enough to have any!) Any feedback or thoughts about this would be welcome. Good luck everyone! The world needs MORE social workers!!
  18. also, does anyone happen to know how many people SFSU will be admitting to the MSW program for the fall?
  19. My SO said she would move with me for grad school (2 years). We have been together for less than one year. I love her and do see a long future with her, but I am worried that she will distract me from my studies.
  20. Any pros/cons of CSU East Bay MSW program?
  21. the CSULA website offers a helpful resume format. good luck!!!
  22. Hi. Yes, I submitted the online "Mentor" application and received my student ID. I also submitted the paper app. When I go online to check the status of my application, I see that I have not yet been "referred to the department". The University considers your application "incomplete", "complete", or even better "referred to department" and the best of all "admitted." Should I be alarmed if I am just "complete" but not yet "referred"? Thanks!
