so i am hearing that school itself is way more stressful than the application process. that said, how are people juggling application stress? the application process takes a lot of time and energy. it also requires constant self-coaching and cheer-leading, especially because i do not have a lot of people helping and supporting me. i really have to push myself! any tips for minimizing stress with applications? there is so much on the line: you are either accepted or you are not.
Less than 10% of applicants were admitted last year. Does anyone know what to expect for this year? Let's also talk about SFSU and any pros/cons of the program! Thanks
Thanks for the responses. Can you tell us more about the stress and the work load? Do students help each other? Do you borrow notes from people that have completed the program? I appreciate the direct info.
Is anyone else experiencing serious stress with the application process? I feel like there are never enough hours in the day. I don't have time to see friends, exercise, etc. because of all the time and effort it takes to juggle references and essays. How are others managing and finding balance? I can't wait until the applications are IN and OVER!
The mentor application asks you to list 3 faculty members who will be writing your LOR. How are you guys handling this? I was thinking I would either a) just list my 3 references even though some are from work/ professional (not faculty) or better yet just write, LORs to be sent separately.
Thank you for your thoughts!
Good question, hiclub2! I personally tend to go with location and fit over prestige. The ranking for U Washington is intimidating! What are the chances of getting in for out of state applicants? I have lots of other good choices, so it may not be worth applying if it is so far out of reach.
Anyone happen to have thoughts about Long Island University (are most of the classes in Brooklyn?), Hunter, CSU East Bay (is it really so bad?), or U Washington (ranked #3)?
Any pros and cons welcome!
Thank you
I just found out that someone was accepted to Berkeley's concurrent MSW/MPH program today! Oh how I hope that we will hear back earlier than predicted. The wait is painful. Sending positive thoughts everyone's way!
Does anyone happen to have information about how many seats are available per concentration for our cohort?
I'm also curious about how many students are currently enrolled for each concentration.
Also, any thoughts on how the sequester will impact the program?
Thanks and best wishes to all during this difficult waiting period!
The website says we will hear back in February or March, but from what I read above-- we should expect to hear back mid-March. Is it too early for me to be compulsively checking?
Also, doesn't it look bad to email admissions to find out when we will hear back? Is it bothering them or showing enthusiasm?
Thanks!
