Is there a case for that getting an acceptance mail is after than the acceptance of some candidates? There are some accepted people in this department. I have nearly zero hope for that. But I wonder.

Hi, I applied to sociology and anthropology departments in US in the last year with 146V/156Q and 90 toefl. And I could not take acceptance. However, I applied very top schools. I will retake toefl again, but I will use the same gre score. And I would ask you that are there anybody else from you/your friends who is accepted with this gre score to anthropology/sociology departments? I am thinking to apply lower schools, but I can reduce the number of schools. I am not sure about it.. I am waiting for your comments.. Thank you.. Have a good application process!
