Schools (generally) give interviews to the applicants they are seriously considering. So, don't think of it as a first cut. Sure it's the first cut that the applicant sees, but in reality it might be the 4th or 5th cut. At least that's what I'm going to let myself believe. Although, the above is correct about not receiving the invitation to an interview as signaling that you will likely not be admitted to that program.

Yeah, I definitely thought it was odd when Harvard did it, considering they had a tough deadline (11th).

I wonder how that will effect the prompt decisions that Candler normally makes... I was counting on them to give me news about a month in advance of everyone else.

Post. It seems that their top candidates are notified much earlier than the rest of their acceptances. Which is starting to indicate that I am not one of their top choices.

One of my good friends just received notice from VDS that he was accepted with a full tuition scholarship for the MDiv program.

Anyone hear from Vanderbilt Divinity? It seems like they sent out some MDiv notifications in early February, but most of them came in early March. Anyone know the details?

Anyone frustrated by Union Theological Seminary's application? It's the only one I'm applying to that's all paper and no electronic submission. I see that they get back to you in about 3 weeks usually.

For me, it's just nice to get rid of the nightmares about not getting accepted anywhere.
I should also mention that one of my colleagues here at the University of Tennessee was also accepted to Candler.

I'm actually currently attending UTK as an undergrad majoring in religious studies, and applying to MDiv programs, just like you.

I might end up applying to Boston U's, but right now I'm focused on my January 11th and 15th deadlines.

My bad; those are just traditionally Methodist places to train for ministry, but I'm sure you could be interested in interdenominational dialogue or not even interested in ordained ministry.
