  2. Best of luck to you to. I think this program is my best chance at getting an acceptance as well. I've been rejected 3 times thus far and this is the only program I've heard anything positive from
  3. I interviewed with a program 3 weeks ago and was told to wait four. This friday, i'm planning on calling the program, despite the fact that the greatest thing I can hope for is being waitlisted. There's a certain peace in knowing where you stand with a school. This waiting this just has a way of making people feel powerless

  5. I think the most annoying thing is I'm questioning what I wore to my interview weekend. Somehow I doubt it truly mattered.

  7. Its hard. The worst part is I could have already been rejected but this school only send rejections through the mail. So I may have already been rejected and holding out for nothing. I think the hardest part is that you visit the campus, meet the people and really fall in love with the program. And then these people say no to you, instead of some faceless institution. Some reason it just sucks more.
  8. Because it happened. I got the rejection letter yesterday. I'm still holding out some semblance of hope for the program that I interviewed with. But the longer they take to respond the less likely it is. They just finished their last interview weekend, so the best I' hoping for is that I was waitlisted after mine and they were just waiting until the last weekend to decide on my application. It makes logical sense to me, but I still think the end result is I'm not going to grad school...
  9. Same here. I interviewed with a program feb. 8th and I really liked the program. Furthermore, I thought the interview went really well. I seemed to be answering questions well. One prof said I asked good questions, the other said I had a good thought process. After the faculty dinner, one of the graduate students said they felt I would be a good fit for the program and another that I seemed to be very dedicated. Sent out my thank you notes and one member of the admissions committee sent back "Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you in your decision process", along with all the cordial thank yous I got as well. ....And then silence. I haven't heard anything from them in weeks. They did another interview weekend last week and some of those students heard yesterday. And of course, I started doing the same thing. Questioning if I made the right impression, if I said something wrong, is my application not strong enough. I learned yesterday that the book chapter I wrote isn't being published until July, when I told them February, so I emailed the people who asked stating the delay. And now wondering if I misunderstood their comments. At this point the best I'm hoping for is that I was wait listed and will hear as soon as other schools send out reply. Historically they have sent out a few acceptances in the first two weeks of March as well.

  11. Nevermind, my status just updated to decision made, and since I never interviewed with this program, I'm going to assume its a rejection.

  13. What does it mean when your application status changes to "Final Review"?
  14. In the same boat. I interviewed with a biomedical science program 3 weeks ago. They said give them 2-4 weeks to give me an answer. My boss just keeps telling me patience is a virtue
  15. Another thing to keep in mind, and this is happening on the undergradute level as well, is schools are holding back promises of finacial aid due to the budget debates. They know their funding is going to be cut, but they're not sure how much, and if they can make up the difference elsewhere. I think that's also factoring into the delay that I'm experiencing for admissions.
  16. Also usually the admissions director is a "Dr." I know professors that will not respond to an email where they are addressed as a Mrs.

  18. My aunt asked if I was gay during Christmas dinner one year because I was 18 and hadn't had a boyfriend yet.... Unlike her daughter who had dated the same guy for two years. It could be worse
  19. With your degree, why are you going to grad school. You can get a good job as an engineer with out an advanced degree. Yes dad, usually as a consultant....
  20. That is awful But to the guy that started this tread, her not apologizing in the email really just means they have an impolite secretary. Where yes its a bad reflection on the school, its not necessary the school being disorganized. Also if a school is asking for official transcripts it typically means they want to offer admissions. I would send them if you could. I know its a lot of money and they have left a bad taste in your mouth, but if its where you get in its where you get in
  21. One of the school I applied to was Pittsburgh as well. I haven't heard anything after initially some positive feedback. Its making me nervous since the program is doing another interview weekend and I'm still sitting in limbo. (and when I say positive I mean one of the graduate students when prompted suggested me to the program)...
  22. Know the feeling. And my absolute favorite "It will all work out" If you mean by it will all work out I continue working the job that I am and not pursuing the career that I want, then sure, I suppose it will.
  23. Off subject
  24. Yes it does, especially when you think you have a legitimate shot with a program and you can feel it dwindling everyday they don't call you.
  25. You walk into an interview sit down and discuss your interests with a member of the admissions committee. And her answer is "so I'm the crap interview that has nothing to do with what your interested in." Me: "Your work is interesting too...."
