Ah! Good to know. I was bummed to miss the visit -- I had two other interviews that weekend and my POI at UBC was flexible (thankfully). I don't feel comfortable sharing my POI until I know for sure that I'm in -- still pretty nervous!

now that we're starting to receive acceptances, I'm really curious as to what the funding packages look like for various programs. the places where I've interviewed have offered fairly consistent funding (though they obviously differ in terms of RA & TA requirements). strangely it doesn't seem to correspond much with cost of living -- good thing I'm leaving boston!

Sounds like it I was invited to interview early this month but wasn't able to make it. It may be PI-dependent, though!

26. been working full-time in research for five years (and am earning my master's this year). interviews are making me feel pretty old...

My POI responded immediately when I contacted her in November and we've been in touch ever since. Sorry

I'm not even interviewing at UBC until late March, so if it's any reassurance they can't have made all their decisions yet!

In a lot of ways I think I've been extremely spoiled because (with the exception of my undergrad advisor) I've always worked for women. These women have been phenomenally accomplished, brilliant, and hardworking, and 2/3 of them have really emphasized work-life balance. I realize that I take this for granted, and I haven't yet had to learn to enforce my own work-life boundaries, which will only become more important as I start a family.

I was also told by my POI (in developmental) that she would be unable to accept students this year. & I do believe that interview invitations have been extended, though I'm not 100% sure.

FYI in case you haven't heard anything -- I received a phone call when I was accepted (1/16)
