  1. The one at U of T is terrible. I took the in-class version of the same course, and many of my classmates took the online version. It's brutal. I've heard better reviews of the Athabasca one.
  2. I wouldn't recommend it. Save your energy!
  3. I would definitely check this before selecting one of them. I was given the impression by one of my classmates that by choosing "firm acceptance", you are taking yourself off the waitlist for other ORPAS schools.
  4. As a current SLP student, I definitely recommend binders, and lots of them. My biggest issue has become what to do with notes when courses are over. So much of your notes will be useful when you're in practice (my current supervisor has all her notes in binders on her shelf that she refers to). It's nice to just have a giant binder on "articulation" for example, and just refer to it when needed.
  5. Last year, everyone (including those who were accepted, waitlisted, and rejected) who applied to Toronto got an email a little later in the day, saying that the application status has been sent out in the mail. Not that that tells you anything in itself.
  6. Yup, I got mine around 8:30am It's a hard wait, I know!
  7. Actually, this isn't true! The emails from Western are automated... I got mine just after midnight. But from U of T, it wasn't automated. The department secretary, Mabel, sent them out manually in the morning.
  8. Everyone got that email last year. However when I first saw the email in my inbox, it practically gave me a heart attack. Congrats to everyone who's gotten in already, and best of luck to everyone!
  9. There are agreements between different countries, meaning your credentials would be recognized. I believe the agreement is between the US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK, and Ireland. I really want to work in other countries too (I'm Canadian). But honestly, my biggest concern is always getting the visa to work in one of the countries listed above. Unless they're short on SLPs, they have no reason to give you one.
  10. My offer letter for SLP last year said over 150. I had thought that was just for SLP...
  11. I was called on March 15 (and they told me Audiology was going to hear the week after). However, those who got scholarships heard earlier. ETA: I was called because I was accepted. If you're waitlisted or rejected, you hear a little later and through other means, I believe.
  12. I am also reviewing some anatomy! (and trying to relax... but I work full time...)
  13. So everyone starting in September... What are you doing to prepare for the fall?! I can't believe how excited I'm getting!
  14. Congrats to everyone getting into Alberta!!!!
  15. Congrats! Man they're taking their sweet time.
  16. Egad00: I had read the student handbook, which is on the site, the night before, which made a lot of today repetitive (also one of my best friends is in the program). Anyway, my point is if you haven't already, take a look at the student handbook. I think I'm now leaning towards U of T. But I guess ask me again in three days. Haha.
  17. Clearly the open house today was influential! Congrats on your decision! To egad00: The best parts of the open house, at least for me, were the parts that weren't broadcasted. The highlight was definitely the tour around the building (which wasn't broadcasted. We got to see several of the labs, meet the profs. The tours were given by 2nd year students -- very nice cause we got to hear them talk candidly about their program. The parts that were broadcasted were mainly things that you can find on the site: -why students choose to go there (definitely from the site!) -housing (Go to the U of T housing site to get off campus housing listings... there are a couple on campus housing options for grad students but not a lot) -a few things about the limited funding there is. one of the points he stressed was to apply for OSAP (the Ontario loan program) even if you're not going to take it, because it determines financial need. I guess as a Quebec student you would just apply for the Quebec equivalent? don't know how that works! I just got home from work (which I went to after the open house!) so I'm exhausted, so maybe I'll remember more later. Hopefully other people can add things.
  18. Personally, my choice has been driving me so crazy, I've started using this.
