  1. SUNY New Paltz-ers, check the website! I think last week, they took all their capable undergrad SLP students, and now they waitlisted some of us on the website. So check it out! I just got wailt listed. I really hope I make it in...patiently optimistic. I will wait till the end of the summer into FALL if I have to! I am so grateful it wasn't a rejection tho!
  2. Oh, no I didn't apply to USF. I did get into one school, but I am still waiting for closer options. I'm waiting for 1 or more of my top choices to (hopefully) accept me and then I will post my decision in my signature...Good luck!
  3. I really hope you get in somewhere you like I will keep my fingers crossed for you jmarti! We still have more time to wait!
  4. Congratulations travelnguy in getting into your top choice! Wish you the best!
  5. Congrats on making your decision CO (soon to be) SLP! It sounds like a great program. Thanks for wishing us luck!! I'm still waiting for more schools to get back to me...I hope this will be over soon. Best of luck to you as well!
  6. This is true! A SLP I observed with at a children's clinic had a huge tote and a rolling crate, because she liked to use her own toys sometimes, and she would bring them from home. Also, some children preferred certain types of toys over others, so she would have a bunch of toys in her car and haul them in for every client based on what toys they learned with... So, if you're going to be working with little children who are picky with toys..I think you'll need a shopping cart or rolling crate. So many toys! But so fun! Also, welcome to the forums csdtoslp!
  7. Hey!! you may be right tuckerma. I think I applied to this particular university for my undergrad, but I never went. I don't recall what email I gave them though..interesting that I forgot I applied there 4 yrs ago.. lol But, now I think it's important to now check all my 3-4 email accounts just to make sure nothing important (like acceptance emails) go through unnoticed..making this process a little bit more unbearable and time consuming (sighhh). Also, slpgal123, is your interview for Brooklyn still on? I hope it is!
  8. This might be a little random, but one of my schools somehow got hold of an old email address that I don't even use anymore and sent an application update to that email as well as my more formal current email. I wonder how schools are getting random/old email addresses. I mean I always contacted schools and put my current email address on all my applications. Just something weird...like how much are schools researching our backgrounds! I think I read over a recent post where the poster said that a school sent an interview request to an old email address that she didn't even list. Weird huh? I don't even have access to the password of that other account anymore..lol
  9. I'd just ask when the deadline is for Hunter very politely, and don't mention that you are waiting for other replies (but they should obviously already know that). You won't be offending the Professor in anyway, and I'm sure plenty of other people would email/call him or her. I don't think the deadline would be for a while yet, because it is really an unofficial admission via the department. So maybe, you can hear from Lehman before then. You never know. Congratulations on getting into Hunter & GL with your other schools. *also, you should post your Hunter acceptance in the "results" page...if you want: http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=speech&t=a&pp=250
  10. Great point! So many applicants and not even enough clinical supervisors, looks like some of us need to get our PhDs to fix this problem! I'm thinking about it...hehe Not any time soon though, I'm sick of the application process. Maybe after I work for like 5-10 years.
  11. Congrats!! Good luck making that decision...
  12. AWESOME!!! Congratulations!! I wish you the very best!
  13. Congrats to all the Northwestern acceptances! Great school
  14. yeah, I can't wait to be done getting all the responses back and making that decision..even if it means days juggling those numbers and doing that not so fun math stuff- it'll be worth it in the end!
  15. HAHAHA SO true! NICE reference! I was just watching Harry Potter all last week to distract myself! funny coincidence.
  16. I actually had to do this... Generally speaking, once you get into a school you don't want to lose your spot and risk not getting into any other schools. And, it's your money so you should go to the best school that you can get into... Congrats FSUstar!!
  17. New Paltz did have a late deadline, but 3 people already posted acceptances on the results board- but they might not attend either. I hope they aren't sending it all out at once. I submitted my application mid- late February...so I guess we can keep waiting. Also, people are still posting full discussions on the results board. I really wish they didn't! But I wish someone would tell them that there is a forum here so they wouldn't feel flabbergasted when their questions and answers disappear.
  18. I keep seeing SUNY New Paltz acceptances. I have this sinking feeling that they already notified people of acceptances through email yesterday. and the rest of us are just rejections and waitlists..ugh.. trying not let my hopes down as I already have an acceptance, and nothing on the website has changed for me.
  19. well, that's wonderful! That decision is gonna up a few spots for other people..I can't wait till I decide so that I can do the same..still waiting for replies cheers to you! Go out and celebrate!
  20. Congratulations srh! It's good to see more positive results being posted! And Norcal thanks for the inspirational story about your father. Kcald, I am glad to see you have made a decision, so I'm guessing you aren't going to wait for any more replies? Congrats as well!
  21. Congrats Tay1991! And thanks for the motivation! I also think everyone can get in somewhere Cheers!
  22. haha yes tuckerma, i saw that post. My mother works at a University, and the people with the PhDs hate when inferior Professors and other staff, let alone students/ prospective applicants forget to address them as Dr. So I definitely feel bad for that person..hopefully they make it off the waitlist regardless of their um error. I also saw another about someone getting a "rude and abrupt" rejection...that must be awful, as rejections are cruel/ rude in and of themselves. So tired of waiting...
  23. Yes! remain calm tay! & Jmarti, i think you still have a good chance! I am definitely rooting for you! But I will list some things I did (from my resume) that might help, since you asked: You probably have some of this done anyway... - Volunteer/observe in at least 3 different settings (children's clinic, rehab/hospital center, nursery school/school) - Have SLPs sign off on hours to get the 25 pre-required ASHA hours - Take bunch of classes in education, I think its required for some locations if you want to work in a school setting. - Take ASL. - Retake classes relating to CSD lower than a B. - Volunteer with PTs and OTs to see how all three work together with common patients, because sometimes that does occur- where patients have physical and speech disorders. Quite an interesting dynamic if you wanna work in a hospital! - Try to pick up more than 1 language....tough one. - Teach children.. - Do as much community service (over 200 hours) as you can. I know you are brilliant jmarti. You will make it!!
  24. Tay1991, I think the SIUC post is either a mistake or written incorrectly. I don't think SIUC has a Spring or summer start. I thought it only started in the fall And if it was a Spring acceptance, why would they inform this late? Very curious... lol
