Congratulations KCald! Is Western Carolina really far from Eastern? Also, the assistantship sounds wonderful! That'd help with the tuition factor.

Awesome! Congratulations! I had a feeling it'd be you! Best of Luck with your Nebraska/ Minnesota decisions.

Yes, I am expecting something from UNK, but I'm not really too concerned about it. At this rate, I may be on the wailist or otherwise...but no worries! it is a bit far for me to attend... so we'll see. I have a closer acceptance in any case. I also got an interview request today. I don't want to share the names of my schools. But, when I do decide on a school, I'll let you all know.

University at Nebraska Kearney applicants are starting to get notified...apparently someone got in today!

I can't work as a Speech Language Pathologist without a Master's degree. And similarly, I can't get a PhD (if i wanted to) down the road with a Master's degree. So, basically my whole career path relies on a Master's degree. And I LOVE being in school!

My school worked on a grading system that only went up to A, (E, D-, D, D+, C-, C, C+, B-, etc). That's why I was kind of upset when CSDCAS calculated my GPA to be lower than it actually said on my official transcripts, because CSDCAS goes up to A+, so my grades ended up being like a little less than they actually are..for example..3.68 would be 3.64 on CSDCAS, or something like that. I do agree that grades should be standardized!

Congratulations SLP1990!

CONGRATULATIONS! !!!

I was also a Pre-Med major! That did take quite a hit on my cumulative GPA. I'm so glad I found SLP while volunteering at a rehab. facility. I was supposed to be observing a fetal/maternal med. doctor, but the volunteer coordinator put me in rehab instead and I fell in "love" with SLP....must be my destiny lol. But, being pre-med helped with a lot of the ASHA pre-reqs (non CSD ones) like biology, chem, physics, stats, calc. & so I don't necessarily regret it.

Congrats SLP2013! That's fabulous news! looks like you're done hearing from all schools. GL with the decision process! I love hearing good news, keeps me going lol...

I'm so tired of obsessively checking my email. Just want this to be over soon. I am no longer following last years results, because it seems like schools are delaying their responses and not really following that timeline. I double majored as well Jmarti! so i feel your pain lol. Took some pretty hard classes for my first major before I switched it (organic chemistry, anyone?) yupp. But, keep those hopes up. All it takes is 1 school!

Congrats occamstoothbrush, you got into 5/6 schools that you applied to! you're almost done (lucky!!) May I ask which is your top school? Thanks for the positivity and hugs!

well, that's awesome Dutt0058! I hope you played up the experience a lot in your SoP! Closest I had to that was observations in 3 settings, and hundreds of hrs in a rehab. center. cool! kudos to all of us talented applicants!
-
I saw a couple of acceptances from St Johns on the results page today, although I didn't apply there.
-
Dutt0058, you are already working as a SLP? so, why are you applying for your master's? Or are you trying to do your PhD? A little confused here... & jmarti keep your head up.. it's not over yet, remember

I'm waiting for East Tennessee State university too! Did they say anything that would indicate hearing from them this week? Looking at last year's stats, it seems like we could hear from them anytime during March through April :/ My application status still reads: Referred Good Luck!

Florida international university/ New York school

Idk anything about the Miami school. As for NY Schools, try SUNY Plattsburgh, it's lesser known and not a ton of people apply because they don't advertise it as well. SUNY New Paltz is more competitive, as is Buffalo. But New Paltz also seems to be taking people with lower GRE scores. All the CUNYs are competitive because of the super low tuition. CUNY Lehman requires a lot of prerequisites (you basically have to be CSD undergrad to even apply, and you need a 3.5 gpa or higher). I haven't read too many nice things about Lehman's programs based off the forums and results page, but those are just people's opinions. That's all I know. Good Luck applying. -
It's only the beginning of March, everyone!! I really hope everyone gets into at least 1 school. jmarti, I see you have USC on your list. Have you considered South Carolina state university as a backup? The deadline is in June, so you have time to apply...but it is really a backup because I think the semester starts later or something..it was on my list but I took it off because it's too far away for me and I know NOTHING about South carolina lol. You might wanna check it out if you don't mind the location. Also, Hampton University in Virginia has a late deadline too... i think it's on June 1st as well. Just some options, you can totally ignore it as well Good Luck everyone!

Oh okay, seems like Fort Hays is in a similar situation right now...they won't reply till mid March either.. Thanks for letting me know! Good Luck to you too!

hi travlnguy, waitlists can be positive if you're near the top of the waitlist... so you might wanna ask what number person you are on the waitlist. Also, I see that you are also applying to UNK (Kearney). Hear anything yet? I'm hoping to hear from them soon because I went through last years results and 2 people responded about Kearney (with acceptances) around this time of the month...(apparently they were notified through postal service). I checked my application status online using MyBlue, but it still reads "your application has been deferred to department for review"
