  1. Yes, I misread my letter out of sheer excitement - 12,000 per year. I'm sick of posting though, because some of you are very mean and think I'm trolling. So unnecessary. Don't post if you're just going to be nasty.
  2. Hmmm...Well, hopefully this won't be the case for me in several year's time.
  3. Hi all- I'm throwing the Fall decision on the back-burner until I hear back from programs about funding. So, my next quandary is about this Summer. I seek to specialize in Beat literature, so I figured a month at Naropa Univerisity would be pretty awesome. But, I wanted to ask you all: Any ideas as to which schools have interesting Summer programs? (UC Irvine has a great one, but their registration just closed out on 3/13, so do mind the date when you make suggestions.) Bring it on! Forever thankful- CabinFever
  4. Ps. I am VERY much a motivated person who wants to teach. No, a community college is not going to cut it for me. Yes, I plan to jump into doctoral studies as soon as I have an MA under my belt. No, I don't need a top 5, but yes, I would like a school with somewhat of a good reputation. And why would I spend tons of money and energy on applying if I wasn't doing my research. Geez.
  5. asleepawake, I really appreciate it. I'm not happy about this trolling accusation, but whatever - posters like you make it worth it to post at all. Sending you a private message with further questions...I really though it said per semester, but now I'm going to go home and check. To all of you, thanks so much for replying! You've really helped me think about some important factors... planesandtrains - please be nicer in your posts. I'm a person with feelings.
  6. It's per semester. They really like me and gave me more than the normal applicant.
  7. Thank you so much. Much nicer response than the first - and arguably more realistic. I appreciate the advice, a lot.
  8. Um, I think I appreciate the worry? Sounded a bit...well, anyway - I'm going to get my masters, so no need to worry. I'm not thick and wouldn't do any of this for a doctoral program. Thanks, I guess.
  9. WORD! It's making me very nervous non-stop that I have to wait for them, keeping other schools on hold. Annoying.
  10. What about a Writing major? They do that at my school.
  11. DataTape, how good is GSU in English? I also got into fAU an UCF in Fla, and I wonder who'd be best reputation-wise (for literature). Thanks.
  12. Hey there, go on their site. They posted decisions there. I haven't gotten an official letter yet, and FYI: they're taking FOREVER on deciding about funding. Very frustrating. Good luck.
  13. Hi there. First time applying to graduate school, and while I have done ample research and have frequent meetings with my mentor and recommenders, I would love to hear what you have to say I got into University of Central Florida (UCF), Florida Atlantic University (FAU), Georgia State University (GSU), and University of Houston (which has no chance for funding, so it's a for sure "no"). FAU offered me a sick deal: 80% tuition waver + 12,000 per semester. I'm waiting to hear from UCF and GSU about GTA offers (::fingers and toes crossed:. (FYI: Still waiting on Alabama University (who offers assistantships to all accepted students), and San Francisco State University (again ::fingers and toes crossed: I want to know your opinions about these programs. I am pursuing an MA in English Literature. THANKS! And I hope you have such awful decisions to make -CabinFever
