  1. anyone have any news to report? Emails, calls, letter, info from dgs?
  2. Eh. I'll wait I guess. I actually applied to a different humanities dept but it's been total silence. Just trying tog et a feel for everyone else's situations to compare to my own
  3. For you USC applicants who have heard one way or another has your application status changed on the usc app. website?
  4. All of my programs have admitted at different dates every year. Sometimes super early, sometimes super late, sometimes rolling admissions, sometimes not. This makes for heightened anxiety.
  5. As far as I know there has been no news from anyone except Emory. If anyone knows differently please chime in!
  6. First, congrats to all the early admits! That's so exciting! To those of you freaking out about the amazing stats of those admitted: Not all of the acceptance stats so far have been amazing (no offense to the accepted) whether in English or other humanities or even social science fields. Some were amazing, but others were not amazing. If anything the results board shows that it's just as much about fit and potential so long as your numbers are in the ballpark.
  7. fancypants don't give up hope at all. Hardly any programs have started notifying yet.
  8. It does seem a bit early considering in previous years AMstudies admitted in early to mid Feb. There's also a USC Critical Studies/Film admit up, which also seems early.
  9. i think theres an AMStudies thread going under the interdisciplinary section of the site.
  10. Did you appy to complit or English? According to last year's results forum the Complit dept. sent notices out on the Sunday before MLK day!
  11. The following CompLit programs all notified by the end of Jan last year: USC, Stanford, Penn State, UWisconsin, SUNY Buffalo, and UNC! It looks like USC's comp lit program started notifying jan 18th last year! That's tomorrow! Holy Crap!
  12. Same here. I had to fill out personal history statements for two schools that were basically life experience/diversity statements. Although it added more work to the process it certainly personalized my application, and it gives schools a more holistic view of who you are and what you've faced/overcame.
  13. Anyone applying to any west coast comp lit programs? It seems nearly every California program notifies late January or first week of February (excluding Stanford)?
  14. So have you all been tracing the earliest possible acceptance dates for all the programs you are applying to? It seems to me that next week acceptances could start rolling out.
  15. *forum goes completely silent with no new posts until acceptances*
  16. Any thoughts? I've always wondered if they Google applicants or view Academia.edu pages? If so, are you worried?
  17. CompLit applicant here too! M.A. in related field. Grad GPA: 3.91 2 publications Some research and merit scholarships. GRE V 160 Q150 W: 5 Langauges: French, Spanish. 18. Wow this seems like a difficult situation. If I were you I would fight for going to the New School. I would email the arkansas program and spell out your interests and see if your interests would be supported. I doubt they would say yes. Take that email and send it to fullbright. Also make very compelling arguments for new school with how your interests would fit and who you would work with and even get letters from the profs you would work with there. This is too good of an opportunity to not fight for. My guess is that Arkansas will not be the right fit unless you want to to traditional literature and cultural studies. Perhaps you could work in their philosophy department in conjunction with the lit program, but make sure they do theory. good luck.
  19. OP is on the wait-list for Emory English Phd.... enough said.
