  1. accepted to the FVNMA department at SAIC by mail. in case anyone else applied to that and is wondering.
  2. got the call(s) from Rutgers today. My latest deadline and earliest acceptance.. the world works in strange ways. and nope, I'm not a painter, sorry, for those that are no doubt wondering.
  3. Interview with uci next week. Heard about it a couple weeks ago.
  4. Anyone hear from saic sculpture?
  5. keep in mind that Yale has a need-blind admissions process. As far as I understand, unless you come from a family that has a considerably high level of income, you won't pay anything near the full cost of attendance. Other top programs come to mind as being much more offensive in this regard.
  6. I think that in some ways this method still makes more sense than merit based aid. It avoids the situation where you have Student A, who is a great applicant and receives the merit funding, but would also have the funds to afford the costs regardless. Whereas student B is good enough to get accepted but does not receive the merit based funding because they are not ranked as highly as Student A, but Student B cannot afford to attend without funding. Especially since class and income levels are such big factors when it comes to opportunity and achievement, I think that this method goes a lot further towards "levelling the playing field" (this is probably also a good starting point for an argument supporting the consideration of parents' income).
  7. Interview requests from UCSD and UCI today. feelin jittery.
  8. Got a phone call today for an interview invitation for saic performance. The person I spoke to didn't know when other departments would be notifying.
  9. You don't need to change the image dimensions when you change the dpi. If you are doing this in Photoshop, you need to uncheck the box that says "resample image", that way the number of pixels will stay the same, changing the dpi will only change how much space the image takes up eg. a 1200x800 pixel image.. at 300 ppi is 4"x2.7", changed to 72 ppi is ~17x11.
  10. ouch. my feelings too pretty much. I suppose i'll phone them in the morning to see if anything can be done. maybe if enough people were confused by it there might be a chance...
  11. welp.. anyone else feeling like the dumbest person ever for missing Yale's deadline, thinking that 12 midnight EST on January 7, 2015 meant tomorrow night not tonight? ..........nope, probably just me...
  12. good attempt at native advertising. slightly awkward transition from advice to ad content. 6/10 overall
  13. accepted to University of Chicago, trying to decide whether to attend. As an international student, a big concern for me is making the most of the opportunity to live in the USA for a couple years. Whether it is worth it to try to get into a program near LA or NYC rather than Chicago. What does gradcafe think? Anyone here planning on attending/currently attending UChicago? pm me if you want!
  14. SVA has some really good ones on itunes.
  15. pros and CONNs ha ha ha ...sorry everyone.
  16. same for the videos I submitted.. probably a bad sign, yeah.
  17. hey SilentDreams, there is also a performing arts forum, where more people might have applied to those programs than here http://forum.thegradcafe.com/forum/77-performing/
  18. I searched and found a thread from last year about Skowhegan; people were getting notified in early April, so we probably have another month of waiting.
  19. my Columbia slideroom had lost the "MFA" suffix when I checked this morning. Applied for New Genres.
  20. I'm sort of wondering the same about new genres.
  21. last year's thread started to see some UCLA activity later in February. I wouldn't worry about it just yet.
  22. IIRC if you look through the last couple pages of this thread, you'll find news about at least 2 of the schools on your list.
