  1. It's basically a GA! I grade A LOT of undergraduate course work! I am also responsible for managing emails from students. I some times administer tests for my professor that I TA for and meet with students. I also help with the field of research my professor is in and I am helping her write a grant right now! We are required 10 hours a week, no more or no less. It's not too bad!
  2. Not a problem! My first two semesters were a lot easier in the sense of having a lot of time during the week to study and plan! My program is 6 semesters and I started in the summer. The summer semester was pretty easy! About 3 hours of clinic a week at my schools clinic and we had night class on Mondays and I think Wednesdays for 3 hours. Then in the Fall I was at an elementary school and a middle school for about 13 hours a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We had night class Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I also was a TA for 10 hours a week during that semester. I didn't really feel overwhelmed until this semester! So they eased us into it!
  3. I am a current graduate student: 1st year 3rd semester. I have clinic for 20 hours a week that is at an offsite. I have about an hour commute to get to clinic in the mornings. I go Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 830-4. Then we have night classes for three hours (5-8) every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I am a TA so I am required to work 10 hours a week, so I work on doing that on Tuesdays and Fridays. I do extra evals when I get a chance because you have a lot of test proficiencies that you are required to have by ASHA standards. I usually study at night and on the weekends. It sounds like a lot and I am always busy... But I still go out and have fun with my friends and see my family! Grad school is what you make it!
  4. Just randomly thought about Grad Cafe while I was speaking with a friend who is applying to SLP grad school! I was in your shoes the last two years. I didn't get in the first time I applied (wait-listed at 7/10 schools) and I got in the second time but was initially wait-listed at 5/6 schools and worked my way off two of the lists! It's stressful and the waiting game will eat away at you. Make sure to venture off grad cafe because it doesn't help with your anxiety!! But it's a great support system!! Good luck to all of you. You will LOVE grad school. It's definitely worth all the frustration and tears the application process causes!
  5. That's good advice! I didn't get in last year and it was rough. But I picked myself up and got a job as a SLP-Assisant and it is such an amazing experience! I hope y'all get in though. Keeping my fingers crossed!!
  6. Got into Texas Woman's! YAY! I will be attending! The only other school I would consider going to if I got off the wait-list would be UNT. They have a summer start which is June 3rd..... SO SOON! Any one else doing summer start for TWU?
  7. I really hope you get into UTD, it's such an amazing program! I told my boss yesterday that I had lost all hope for getting in this year (it's my second year applying) and I was going to look into paying for a GRE class. Two hours later got the email! I really hope everyone that hasn't got in yet can feel what I am feeling! We have worked so hard for this!
  8. Thank you so much katieliz, jmar, and Nebraska!! I feel like the world is lifted off my shoulders!! I definitely had a few celebratory drinks tonight! NOW, to find an apartment by June 3rd and segway myself out of my job.... I am glad I am going on vacation today! A little break before the madness starts up! The best madness ever!
  9. I FINALLY GOT ACCEPTED!!!!!! Yayayayay I will be attending Texas Woman's University! second choice school! Very excited! I'm still in disbelief haha
  10. I use to live at the oaks and they are right next to the clinic (a two minute walk) and are really affordable! They don't have huge college parties all the time like other complexs! I know a few girls in the program right now live there as well!
  11. I'm am trying SO HARD to be positive about being waitlisted.... It's difficult. I just want to scream PICK MEEEEE! Sounds like an appropriate strategy to me. This is after being waitlisted last year. I can only hope it will bring me good news! I'm happy for everyone else that is getting off of these lists! It gives me hope.
  12. I hope you hear something today! These schools can stop teasing us now...
  13. Not to my knowledge... I finished my undergrad there last year and they sent out letters in the mail in mid-march for accepted and rejected applicants!
  14. I keep giving myself words of affirmation! I am trying SO hard to stay positive!! I have only allowed myself to have one pity party a week!
  15. Waiting... Waiting... -__- My mom told me I'm like the girl from 27 dresses.. I'm the bridesmaid, not the bride! lol
