  1. Not for IR at all! I'm deciding between SAIS and Tufts, myself. But if I had to choose between NYU and GW, I would go GW 100%. I don't even know if NYU is ranked for international affairs, while GW did make the list for Foreign Policy's IR schools. I only applied to NYU because at the time I wanted to stay in NY.
  2. What about Americans who have already graduated?
  3. I'm in exactly the same boat. I'm torn - love the idea of Bologna but not sure the price difference is worth it. DaniCM, let me know how your talk goes? I might have to try the same.
  4. Already trying to appeal to the SAIS-bound ladies?
  5. Oops! I clearly put so little thought into NYU that I put down the wrong NYU. I was admitted to GSAS as well. No idea what the difference was - I just wanted a backup in New York. I think if you need work experience Elliott would be more helpful in finding internships. Just by impression from talking to them.
  6. I got into both and sense that Elliott offers much more. I haven't gotten any info from NYU. Elliott seems very connected with the D.C. scene and is bigger.
  7. Preterm is in Bologna. I'd probably go if I decide to go there (I really want to but Fletcher is enticing me with money, haha). I'm from New York, so am having a mini "vacation" for open houses: Tufts on Monday, SIPA Tuesday, and SAIS on Wednesday. For the classes, I'm really interested in human rights, as well as Middle Eastern politics. I think I'll try to test out of French, but still take Arabic and wouldn't mind some Italian!
  8. I'm glad you figured this out. Wish you well at b-school (can I get your fellowship? hehe).
  9. Definitely want to know this as well
  10. Thanks for sharing. I appreciate his honesty.
  11. Human rights.
  12. That's so weird. I'm convinced this whole process is nonsense haha. Originally I was leaning toward SIPA, but I realized I was more impressed with the Columbia name and staying in New York than the program itself. I'm leaning towards SAIS-Bologna, but Fletcher also gave me some money. I do think Fletcher is a great school, but I don't know if I want to live in Boston. Tough choices!
  13. congrats! don't listen to that troll. sorry to hear that Pinkman, but I think Fletcher is a good option to have (I'm considering both).
  14. Definitely
  15. The job market for lawyers isn't great anyway, so I don't think people should go to law school unless they're actually interested in it.
  16. I wonder that too. Like maybe for some schools my essay/"story" was interesting and/or impressive, or other places they argued about me I'm super happy to get in to SIPA or SAIS but would gladly trade SIPA admission for any scholarship to SAIS. And some got money to SAIS but didn't get into SIPA, or something like that. Weird process.
  17. Too bad this thread has been taken over by MBA talk.
  18. I got it today. Honestly not much to see there.
  19. I think I'm like everyone else on this board - tired of the MBA talk/drama on the other SAIS board. Personally the only con of this is the cost. I like the idea of a group (I hear that the Bologna group gets closer than the ones in D.C., being together in a foreign country). LOVE the idea of being in Europe and an international/European focus. I don't love the idea of all the quant courses, but it's probably good to have. I'm deciding between Fletcher and SAIS (SIPA is the third choice right now), and will go to all three open houses! Maybe we can all share notes after the open houses...I'm sure by SAIS I'll be tired after two days of school tours.
  20. First year in Bologna, then 2nd year in D.C.
  21. I'm curious about this as well. Also, how does it work for Bologna students when they get back to DC?
  22. Congratulations! Clearly not just some "random dude." Nice to see someone so happy (the SAIS board has a lot of cynics).
  23. Sounds like you're taking this with a helpful attitude! Also, doing better on the GRE is probably easier than being told it was because of your experience or college grades. Best of luck to you
  24. Thanks for that - was about to ask if it was pass/fail. I'm guessing that's only the case in the preterm?
