  1. Hi~OhioStateStudent, have you decided which graduate program you'll attend? I applied Statistics Ph.D. Program in Fall 2013 and got the waiting list from UIUC. I didn't get any updated information about my application. Your choice might help me a lot!
  2. Hi. I think you should choose the Biostat Program if the program is UW, Harvard or JHU. These departments have a bunch of very good faculty members doing theoretical work. Also the application area of these department is very wide. Good luck!
  3. I agree with caffe freddo. It depends on whether you loves Bayes. If you don't love it, it might not be the best choice for you. It's important to check the Prof.'s research interests matchs your's or not.
  4. Hi! roguexgirl. What's your research interests? The answer might vary whether your research interest includes Bayesian Statistics.
  5. I vote for UNC too. Biostat Department of UNC is among the first-class. I think Biostat Department focuses on application, while Stat Department focuses on more theoretical issues.
  6. Given your interest and information posted here, my intuition telsl me you should go UW. I think you've already put UW in the high ranking: there are most suitable advisors in UW; the Department has tight cooperation with excellent Biostat Department. I think the financial problem in subsequent years isn't so big in UW given your strong academic background to get offer from Berkeley. There are many financial opportunities. I vote for UW! Good luck!
  7. hi~ Rob1234, are you considering going to Upenn? it seems that most of the Ph.D. students from Upenn pursued academic life.
  8. As far as I'm concerned, I would choose Harvard because of its broad research areas. Duke University and Harvard University are both very strong contenders in Bayesian Statistics, but I think studying in Harvard could enlarge your vision in Statistics during 5 years' study and cooperation with other experts. Besides, Jun S. Liu is an outstanding scholar in Monte Carlo methods. At last, I think Harvard has better academic reputation than Duke. These are my reasons to choose Harvard~
  9. Hi~~I've got 2 admissions: Applied Statistics Master Program in Umich in Ann Arbor and Biostat MSc Program in Yale. The costs of these 2 programs are equal I think. I'm wondering which program could provide me with more job opportunities in US? Besides, if I decide to apply Ph.D. program in Statistics or Biostatistics in 2 years, which program is advantageous? Thanks!
