  1. Freeze, Thank you. What do you think about the program? What are the strengths of the programs? How do students acquire adequate funding opportunities? Thank you again.
  2. Hi, Can you discuss some of the neighborhoods that you think would be safe and quiet for graduate students and/or people who need to walk to the university often? Conversely, can you talk about neighborhoods that you do not think are safe? Thank you very much.
  3. I also noticed that people at UNC's library science program did not pick up the phone. Also, they did not return phone calls when I left messages. However, I had some luck e-mailing them. They do not respond for quite some time (sometimes a week or so). Yet this way you might get an answer. It seems like UNC did not bother to communicate with its applicants beyond the automated correspondence via the graduate school. I was able to find out about funding but it would be best to find out about your individual situations. Contact the secretary and/or one of the directors. CALA looks like a great opportunity. I hope everything works out for you. Best wishes!
  4. From the beginning UNC was difficult. The library science department did not follow through with two areas of my application. In one instance I had to contact them. However, the library science office did not pick up the phone on several occasions. Furthermore, they did not return phone calls although I left messages. I e-mailed them a few times and eventually they responded, not in a timely manner. Because the department incorrectly processed my application, I was not eligible for university funding for graduate students and despite their mistake they would not give me a chance for this type of funding. Of all of the programs that I was admitted to, I found that UNC was the most disorganized and the least communicative. The department never sent out a greeting to admitted students or a timeline. Even now I have no information from the department about when they would like admitted students to accept or decline an offer. I wanted to like this program. Initially, they looked like a promising program. Unfortunately, I do not have a favorable impression of their program.
  5. Hi Sir Frankie Crisp, Thank you very much for the helpful information. You helped tremendously and Urbana looks like it would be a great choice. I truly appreciate the help and I will see you in the fall. Thank you again. --Charlotte
  6. Hi, Congratulations about UIUC. I was accepted to the library science program also. I was wondering if you could suggest places to live in the Champaign-Urbana area. I'm looking for very quiet and safe neighborhoods. What do you think about living in a graduate dorm or an apartment on the campus? Would it be best to live in Champaign, Urbana, or a smaller town further away? Thank you very much!
  7. Did the Library Science program at UNC-Chapel Hill communicate with you if you were admitted? Unlike all of the programs I was admitted to, I never heard any information about how to proceed. Furthermore, does anyone know when they will make decisions about departmental funding? Thank you.
