I'm very happy- just got accepted to Temple! Applying as an undergrad from an unknown school this is really, REALLY thrilling to have this locked in! It was an added benefit I happened to be with my family when I received the email haha!I don't know how much longer Joseph Margolis will be there- is is quite up there in age (he is brilliant- I wish there was a way to preserve him and keep him in good shape because I would love to work with him!) I know they have fabulous specialization in German Idealism, I just need to make sure the few profs they have that are analytic-oriented will be around for awhile still! I have more programs I applied to, but this was a great surprise!

They haven't been great, but I don't think they've been terrible either. There have been a fair amount of schools predicting on or near their predicted dates (4 on the exact predicted date and another 4 within half a week), but some that have been surprises (Northwestern a week off, WUSTL two weeks off, and Miami three weeks off, in addition to the schools I predicted to release last week that still haven't).
 
This ratio seems pretty similar to Ian's success last year (see his post on the accuracy of the predictions here), with a little over half the schools coming within half a week of their predicted dates, and roughly a quarter being pretty far away from their predicted dates. I'd expect the rest of the schools to follow a pretty similar ratio (and perhaps doing a bit better, since some of the surprises were schools releasing far earlier than predicted).

They might not seem great currently, but I think the predictions can probably only be assessed in retrospect (esp. since the bulk of notifications go out later this month and into next month). 

Also, none of us (Sid and Ian included, I think) take these predictions too seriously, since we know there are serious problems with the methodology, particularly due to the bad data sets (neither Sid nor Ian, to my knowledge, have claimed that the methodology was sound). Or at least I hope! I've been using them to sort of informally get a sense of when I'd hear back (late February? Early March? etc), and that's probably what they're best used for. 

Six programs, and nary a peep. I keep staring at my email, waiting for something to dance or leap out at me, then I dart back here to refresh the results page and see what's different. I keep checking history departments and English departments with the thought that, "Surely since they share staff with American Studies, if one moves, the other must, too." And then when I see all the programs that I DIDN'T apply to getting results, the self-loathing kicks in and I start criticizing myself for not applying to USC or UT or Washington State . . . and then I go check my email again. It's a vicious cycle. They need to either start accepting/rejecting/wait-listing me or else all pitch and pay for my therapy!

Hey everyone, just jumping in on this thread. I was accepted at Northwestern a few days ago. I'm actually a fourth year PhD student transferring out of the program at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign because the department here is basically collapsing. So kind of in a weird boat. Anyway, congrats to everyone getting offers and good luck to everyone else!

Edit: Looking over Gradcafe posts from last year, it seems that the wait-list was ranked. No mention of that in my e-mail.
