  2. Hey guys, I just got an email from the Graduate Director at Toronto letting me know that I've been waitlisted. If you haven't heard yet, keep the hope alive!
  3. It went well ... They didn't have many questions, apart from my reasons for my interest in the program. It was a good thing that I had a few questions.
  4. Hi, I had a Skype interview with BU today ...
  5. Hi! I'm currently a student at SU. Message me if you have any questions
  6. True! I received an email from the Dean of Students and my POI with an offer of admission. Chicago is one of my top choices. Some difficult choices lie ahead! Congrats to all those who got in! I hope those who didn't have gotten other acceptances. the waiting game is really difficult!
  7. I was interviewed by my POI at Chicago on January 22nd. I applied for the Sociology and Anthropology of Religion track ... My POI said that I should hear by Feb 15th, however no word as yet... Wondering if I've been rejected...
  8. Thanks for Esei_John. I guess that it's most likely a rejection for me as well. It seems that all accepted candidates were emailed or called individually. I wish they would at least send a generic email to all rejected applicants and put us out of our misery...
  9. I also applied to Toronto and heard nothing back. Has anyone heard so far?
  10. Congrats on your acceptances Meglet ! Both of your projects seem really interesting!
  11. Lol no that wasn't me! I was the other person who posted my results ...
  12. Yay!!! Congrats to you too! See you at the end of February

  14. Hey guys! I just got an email from the DGS at Princeton. I got in! Anyone else get who applied there got accepted?
  15. Hi guys! I just got an email from the DGS at Princeton... I got in! Formal acceptance letter to follow. I am still in serious shock. It seems surreal. I am so thankful to everyone in this forum who kept my spirits up and the hope alive! Best of luck to all of you. I wish you all the best. Hugs
  16. Thanks for the support guys! I am so grateful for this forum. My family doesn't really understand why I'm stressing out. They don't get how competitive these programs are! So I am glad to connect with people who know how real the struggle is!
  17. Thanks for confirming guys! I got a notification from my Academia.edu account that someone from Princeton, NJ searched for me. Is this is a good sign? My Academia page is pretty unimpressive ... just my pic, a few lines on educational background and areas of interest. Will this work against me? Now I am silently freaking out ...
  18. Hi guys, I applied to three Anthropology Programs: NYU, Boston U, Princeton. I have seen some people post about interviews from NYU. Any word on Princeton? I really wanna get into Princeton! Do they usually interview?
  19. Thanks a lot for replying ! I m so nervous about the applications, your words were really encouraging!
  20. Hi All, I found this forum really helpful in the past for my MA application, so I am posting again, this time for PhD. I am an MA Student in Religion. My interest is in the Anthropology of Religion, looking at the intersections of race, religion and identity and in particular the construction of identity through religious expression and ritual. Over the course of my MA studies, I have come to realize that I may be better suited to an Anthropology PhD program as opposed to a Religion PhD. I have been grappling with this issue a lot over the past few months, specifically because I do not have an Anthropology Degree. My experience with the discipline has been limited to an Anthropology of Development course for my previous Masters in Development Studies and my current ethnographic research for my MA thesis in Religion. I was wondering whether I stand a chance in applying to Anthropology PhD programs - I have been thinking of the Anthropology Programs at NYU, Princeton and Purdue - I know that these programs are super competitive but they all have professors who specialize in my concentration of interest (anthropology of religion; historical anthropology) and in my geographic area (the Americas, particularly the African diaspora in the Americas). I also am applying to two religion programs with strong anthropology components as a backup... Any thoughts/ advice/ words of wisdom on what you think my chances (realistically) are would be appreciated. Any advice on other programs that may be a potential fit with my interests would also be appreciated... Thanks in advance!
  21. I have found some places. My issue is that I am not able to see them beforehand. which is what really has me anxious! I would have liked to be able to see them before agreeing to security deposit etc..I plan on heading to Syracuse in August. I just do not know if I want to leave it till then, as all the good places will probably be gone..
  22. I got accepted into the Religion program. I have been reading up on crime and safety in Suracuse, which has me a bit anxious. If anyone has found accomadation that is reasoanble and safe, please do let me know!
  23. Hi all, I know that this thread is a bit dates, but I was accepted into Syracuse last week, and I intend to accept the offer ! I am looking into places to live at the moment,, From this thread, I noted that Westcott and Dewitt areas seem to be more quiet for grads. Any suggestions? I am looking for a one bedroom or studio, would love your feedback... Also within 15 - 20 mins walking distance. It seems that the snow is also pretty bad here...I'm dreading that - I'm from the Caribbean !
