I have not picked up a proof-writing book. Thanks for the suggestion!

Yes. Unfortunately, no acceptance letter came with it! I think we can safely assume that they have started reviewing applications. I had an encounter with an unprofessional professor, so I decided to not apply there. I have a low tolerance for rude people and the fit wasn't the strongest, so no real loss.

Revising application materials after submission?
silver_lining replied to soonsoforth's topic in Political Science Forum
Most adcoms are already reviewing applications (probably depends on due dates), so I can't imagine them accepting a new version of your writing sample. Most schools have a disclaimer when submitting applications along the lines of "everything you are submitting is final and revised versions will not be accepted." They may accept your transcript though, since that is something that you cannot change and will not benefit from having more time to work on. -

Because of my situation I can avoid research, which I am thankful for. I am avoiding any article (academic and non-academic), blogs, etc., that is related to my research. I don't want to go into the next few weeks deeply in love with my research topic (more so than I am now) and only to get rejections. Strangely, I find math to be relaxing during high periods of anxiety and stress, so I will be going through the book Mathematics for Economists by Blume and Simon. On another topic, all of the graduate secretaries that I have interacted with have been very professional and kind.

He/she may have gotten the info from POIs, which makes me feel like "asldkfjasdf." I didn't really contact POIs and now I am regretting that decision.

Polite way to underscore a firm deadline?
silver_lining replied to browncow's topic in Letters of Recommendation
Dear Prof. X, I appreciate the fact that you are writing a letter for me, but as I know you are very busy, I would like to remind you that a strict deadline for school X is on Date X. Let me know if you need any info to complete this task. Sincerely, Y -

Most of mine were double, if specified. Otherwise I went with 1.5.

I would take it a third time depending on what your practice tests were. If you were scoring much higher, then test anxiety may have gotten to you and the third time may be the charm!

I second the notion to have this thread closed. It shouldn't have been started in the first place. Not related to grad school in any manner.
