  1. Guess what? I found out I got accepted! Mgmt & planning concentration.

weird part is that everything was coming together at CSUMB. They already gave us family housing 2b/1b, garage, yard for 1310/month. The program staff really communicative. Excited to move there, pictured a new coastal adventure. Invited us to conferences already.

Berkeley is full-time. Has a petition to make it part-time but only if have baby or pregnant. Want to keep my current full-time job. Monterey is part-time program. However I live in East Bay now and wouldn't have to move 2 year old out to new daycare... Berkeley was where I got introduced to SW and where I was always fixated on going. Used to say I would quit my job to go to grad school there but now I have one worth keeping.

how/why did u make your decision in the end?

    Help! :)

  2. If you get a chance to attend a info session, even if it is a web-based one, you will get a sense of the programs because they usually have a student panel.  Also, try contacting the school to see if they have a student who would be willing to speak with you; they usually do. Last, look up names of alumni and try contacting them and seeing if they wouldnt mind sharing!

I just checked my portal and saw I was accepted to SJSU! No email yet so check your account if you're waiting.

Congrats! Finally they give an answer huh? When did you apply? What concentration? Are u gonna go to SJSU? We need more details, haha! But seriously, that is awesome! Bask in the awesomeness!

What area on your portal was it in? Was it on Okta or admissionspro?

To clarify, I got over it and am moving on. Had to mope for a few days because I have faced quite a few rejections in the past (significant and not) but this one was unique: I got to the interview phase, I thought it went really well, and I got my hopes up....mistake. I understand there are many factors for choosing the "right" grad student and I simply did not fit that square. That's fine.

    @CoyoteBlueA

Sometimes you did fit the square but there is simply no space. It is possible to have everything they want but still not get selected. So remember that.

I am currently waitlisted at UCB and my colleagues are telling me congrats and I was like, "no, I might not get in." But then I said, okay I will accept their congrats; it reminded me to celebrate every milestone along the path of the journey.

Has anyone received any other update since yesterday's email?

Asked how waitlist will be handled. Got this reply:

"We won't begin to move people off the waitlist until after April 15th, which is the deadline for people to respond to our admission offers. From April 15-May 31st, we will move people off the waitlist according to how many people respond to our admission offers.

    Best,

    Admissions Office
School of Social Welfare, UC Berkeley"

I asked if the waitlisted ppl are in line with a number but they didn't answer that part.

There is.  The waitlist is not ranked though, it's by group concentration. The deadline to submit my interest in staying on the waitlist in in April. I am not sure what I would like to do and have to think things over so yah. Meltoid, are you going to stay on the waitlist?

    Congrats Lunabathory!

Wokebrowngirl, I already sent in my reply to stay on the waitlist and I think you should too!  Even if you change your mind at least you are on the list.  I just called to see how they will process it.  I know it is by concentration by I want to know how else they choose?  Just first come first serve on who said to be on the waitlist or are we already ranked somehow.

But I also applied to SJSU and CSUMB which are part-time programs and probably more suited for my life but still.... I love Berkeley!  (went there for undergrad).  I kinda like to choose the most crazy options in life.  For instance, I drive 2 hours each way to work because I wanted to work at my old community college! Haha!  But its worth it in the end!

Come on, Workbrowngirl!  Get on dat waitlist!  (What others schools did you apply to? Maybe we'll end up two woke brown girls in the same program in the end! haha)

THE WAIT IS UNBEARABLE. I know we got the email with the date range but on their admissions website they added in that they would give notifications out by the 15th. I obsessively check here, the grad results anon page and my email every couple of hours. :(

That's funny! I am obsessively checking too! I was thinking... "What time on the 15th!!!" Haha so I stayed up 'til midnight thinking maybe it will get sent out at the stroke of midnight, like some Cinderella ish! w

    Anyways, applied for MAP too!

  8. Thanks for starting this thread!

I'm in agony waiting too! I applied right on the deadline. I applied for the in-person part-time program. How about you all?

I also applied to CSU Monterey Bay and UC Berkeley. Berkeley gave a specific date... Tomorrow 3/15. And like you said, Autumn Summer, not being able to plan is hard.

I really wanna know all of them already!!!! Good luck to all of us!
