Same boat. And mine's starting a 3 year program at Penn. So if this year doesnt work out I may hang out until she's done and then reapply--which means starting a Phd program at 32.
I'll use this post to thank everyone for their congratulations, and to preemptively thank anyone else for any congratulations given after this post. And to also congratulate everyone that has received acceptances, and to preemptively congratulation anyone who will receive acceptances. And to those that on the verge of despair, I can guarantee you that I've been rejected by more graduate programs then you. It will work out, have hope.
I'm getting nervous. I haven't heard anything yet (except for Princeton's rejection) from anyone. I have a publication in a top tier journal in my field, national conference presentations, and plenty of language training. If this doesn't work out this year there's really nothing I can do that would significantly help my app (I already applied to phd programs before and took the time off to do everything) and I'm not getting any younger. Gah! The only thing I have no idea about are my letters of rec's! I wish I could read them!
