  1. same here, rejected! I wasn't expecting much though. I changed my mind to apply for umich instead of uchicago 2 days before the deadlines!
  2. Did you email them? Or they sent you an email? Who contacted you? I emailed student service coordinator but she hasn't replied my email since yesterday.
  3. I agree that was strange, I wasn't looking for any rejection/WL any time sooner than the end of Feb. But in the end I'm just sure that I have been rejected and I can focus on other things, hate to be waiting.
  4. What a great news, congrats. And by the way, yes they have made all the decisions.
  5. I've seen the interview submissions, but I wanted to know if there were any actual results. I don't know if Umich interviews all the applicants they consider to admit but I assume I was rejected from U-M as well. I applied to 3 school: UCLA (Sun-ah Jun), Umich (Steven Abney), and UConn (Harry van der Hulst) My research interest is intonation phonology and in general prosodic phonology.
  6. may I ask how was your CV? In my case it was my top school,I had related papers and related writing samples. I made sure that my recomms are personalized and my SOP was great (I had my thesis proposal ready, and since I was going to work on phonology I even recorded my corpus!) actually my cv's weak points were 1.I just got my undergrad degree so my research experience was close to none and 2.my degree was from a rank ~20 in Iran. Anyone heard from U-M ? it's my second top choice.
  7. I got my unofficial rejection email from Sun-ah jun (UCLA) ?? it was my top choice and I really wanted to work with her... Congrats to those who got in. Great school and great faculty...enjoy. and by the way she said that they have notified all the accepted and waitlisted applicants. So if you haven't heard from them you are probably rejected.
  8. Hi Everyone I'm applying for fall '16 and this is a summary of my CV I wanted you to check this out and tell me about my chances of admission on the unis I'm apply to. I'm currently studying TEFL at the IKIU in Iran and applying to PhD programs in Linguistics. I have submitted two papers one in NLP (about stemming algorithms submitted to ACM transactions) and one in Applied Linguistics (ESP) and I'm currently working on Phonetics-related projects (Speech corpora). I have more less 9 month RA and have written several codes and projects in NLP and Speech recognition (Converting parameters of RFC to Tilt intonation model). I would like to work primarily on Speech Recognition either theoretical (studying on suprasegmental) or applied (speech APIs or algorithms) based on my resume what are my chances in these universities: 1) UCLA 2) U Chicago 3) California State U 4) UConn
  9. ** Steven Wilson - Drive home ** A necessary track for your library and also the whole album (The raven who refused to sing) Blackfield (specially the tracks: Pain, Hello, 1000 People) Porcupine Tree (A smart Kid, Glass arm shattering) in general all the bands and solo works of Steven Wilson (including the ones he was a contributor: Opeth, Anathema...).
