  1. Hey, I'm still waiting to hear from some, but I will say that I was offered a spot in Tulane's MA program with a very good stipend - not as much as some of the better PhD programs (which tends to be around 24-26k) but definitely better than a lot of PhD funding offers. Certainly enough where I wouldn't starve to death.
  2. Does anyone know anything about University of Delaware's MA funding situation?
  3. Hey I was accepted yesterday. If you have any questions feel free to pm me!
  4. Well I for one cannot wait for April 15th. I knew I was setting myself up for a lot of rejection letters by applying to 15 odd schools, but damn.
  5. Yeah I also figured that once I had one down the stress would go away, but it didn't occur to me that schools don't generally know about your funding situation right when they accept you, so it is very stressful to know that, while I have been accepted to my dream school, I still can't feel secure knowing that I will be in grad school next year. I have 12 still to hear from (I really hedged my bets) but only a few of those would be real contenders now. Question: So I remember hearing/reading a long time ago that schools (at least in the U.S.) had to tell us their decision by April 1 and we have to decide by April 15. But now I have no idea where I got that information; can anyone confirm or deny? Because, according to the Results Search from last year, people were still hearing from places into April.
  6. I would really love to know about UT Austin as well. I don't think anyone has been notified. Not sure if this means anything, but a few months ago I had just sent their office a brief inquiry about possibly visiting and didn't receive a response until a few days ago, which was a somewhat cryptic email telling me to attend the Graduate Symposium next month. It could have just been a standard response, but I am trying to think positive and tell myself it means that they were waiting to decide to admit me and then decided to let me know (laugh at my pain, guys).
  7. Accepted to my top choice! Now to worry for a few weeks about funding....
  8. Oh wow I forgot CAA was this weekend...I wonder how this will delay admissions responses.
  9. If it's any help, I asked one of my old professors this question the other day (and, for context, he's on the graduate committee for one of the top programs that a lot of people on here are currently fretting about). He basically said that they couldn't care less about your math score and the other scores aren't all that big of a deal either. They look at them to make sure you are competent enough but it's not going to rule you out if you didn't do stellar. He said it's a bonus if you do well but, unless you did abissmally on the verbal/analytical, it probably isn't going to count against you.
  10. That is really odd and not a great position for them to put you in. If I were in that situation, here's what I would do: If you have already been accepted somewhere you think you would choose over them ,just tell them you are very interested but would have to hear about, say, funding. If you haven't been accepted I would just say "I love Riverside its my top choice!" just in case...if you end up deciding on somewhere else then you could always just tell them it wasn't an issue with the program, it just didn't offer enough funding or something so that you don't burn any bridges if you apply for your PhD later. I doubt they are trying to bind you to anything, these places just don't want to waste their time on wishy washy candidates when they have so many applicants. But congratulations that is awesome!
  11. I'm not sure if I would read into that. I had a few schools say that to me and I think it was truly because they just didn't get them-my undergrad makes it near impossible to send out transcripts correctly ugh. But it's not a bad sign either!!! I would like some good news soon too..
  12. Has anyone had the problem of a school noting that their application status is "applied after deadline"? I sent in my application to one school before the deadline but one of my recommendation letters didn't get there until after the deadline and I'm a little worried. Any thoughts?
  13. Ereissoup, thank you. That was much appreciated. I suggest everyone go listen to "Make it Through the Rain" by Mariah Carey. It is so inspirational.
  14. Similar. Not feeling too good right about now.
  15. Ok so, unfortunately, the whole horrible application process might be over but the real work is just beginning. And I don't know about anyone else, but I have no idea what I'm doing. So what do you do once you are accepted to a school? I have heard people post about emailing their POIs but what exactly is it you say in such an email? And what if you aren't positive exactly who would be your adviser? And how do you approach the whole funding thing or try to get more funding? So many questions...
  16. I'm just going to say that I will not check the UT Austin application until they email me because, seriously, the set up for that application was insane and I got so confused and do not need to revisit that right now.
  17. I've got the same thing going on. My theory is that they aren't bothering to update this stuff. Remember: Art Historians. My application status for the school I've been accepted to still says something along the lines of "under review." They do what they want.
  18. Yeah I think they were confused. I mean, I applied for the MA and they applied for the PhD so maybe there is something I don't know, but I haven't heard of them doing interviews. I really hope the decisions aren't out it is one of my top choices too...
  19. Anyone hear from UT Austin? One person posted that they heard of people getting interviews but I haven't found any other mentions of that.
  20. There are a couple that weren't listed in "Art History," such as someone who got a UCL interview and someone who got into Oxford.
  21. Ah the feeling of panic when I realize that in the Results Search feature I've only been looking at "Art History" and forgot about "History of Art"...
