New plan baby! Oh yeah, Macho MAN RANDY SAVAGE TIME! -
What in comparative are you interested in?

You know, I know what it takes to be totally committed to research. I have been there. My dream wasn't to be an academic to twaddle my thumbs for some university and make sure I brought funding to some department. All I wanted was to contribute and to find a home among friendly environs. But maybe university life is not about just the search for knowledge. I have no name. I have no connections. I have always read what I liked to; damn the books and articles that bored me. The game that is academic acceptance is not one in which I am adept. For those who go on - remember us who failed, remember the graveyard of applicants who didn't know any better and threw our hat in. Work hard, but remember us. Too many of us.

@Nina, My MA is in European, Russian and Eurasian Politics and History. It is a two year MA here at U of T. My main research has been economics of transition and democratization in post-communist countries. Recently, I have been interested in Eastern European integration into the EU and its effects on democratic campaigning and corruption. Off topic, I want to go to Cuba before it changes over to have a good perspective on its transition. But I am afraid of US officials as I am an American. For further details, check-out undergrad stats.

I have gotten absolutely nothing from them. Even my embark status is missing some items which concerns me but I know that I submitted all materials via the electronic system. I don't know what I did wrong on my admissions process. If you look at my stats I feel I was a strong candidate and I don't think that any of my recommenders were hesitant about their recommendations. Maybe I should find something else to fulfill me.

Do you think I can attend classes on audit instead? Or is their knowledge off-limits?
-
I wonder about this one.

I am going to strike out. This sucks.

Are you the poster on the Results page?

Sweet. Old School.

Question: I just got a letter from NSSR saying that my application is complete and has been forwarded to the department for review. The department may contact you for further details and information requests. Additionally, they issued me an ID number so as to confirm my identity. How should I divine these words? Normal procedure for this funky school or I am one step closer? What do you think?

Forum for those who applied.

I was interested in GMU's Econ Masters with 80K dollar fellowship. But I don't have the time to apply.
-
I think I have to disconnect myself from this. I have a freaking thesis to complete... AHHHH!
-
It's funny, I keep getting rejects. But always at my first choice of those remaining. Now I am to the point of hoping to god that someone takes pity on me.
-
No more waiting. It's official. Crushed.

Not true... Exibit A - 6PM EST Today, Dear {Lenin333}, Thank you for your message, as well as for your application to our Government program. To answer your question, the Graduate School has not sent any decision letters to any of our Ph.D. in Government applicants. However, these decisions will start to go out within the next two weeks or so. I hope this is helpful. Have a good rest of the week. @ Alanpolisci I have two interests. One is East European democratization and integration into Europe. I was asked to present at a conference here at U of T but turned them down because I don't have the time to prepare the paper. Second is my interest in Russia's historical image in the West and how it shapes current relations. They both seem to dove-tale into each other. My program now is good for Russian Studies. But as a Political Science topic, it is hard to find a good concentration of scholarship. Columbia has one professor I would love to work with and so does Northwestern. But we will see. I did have an interview at Starbucks today... How many lattes to pay off my student loans? I feel abused.
-
Anybody else a Post-Communist Scholar here? I am a Russianist. It would be interested to see what everyone is interested in.
-
I am not sure about the GT admit either. At this point I wish I didn't care.

I am pretty distraught at this point. I keep going over how I could have written a stronger statement or how my current transcript fails to point out what discipline my courses were in. Or the choice of recommenders. FUCH!
