just thought i'd elaborate on this point so that you folks don't form a biased opinion beforehand. Mormons are extremely outgoing as well. and that comes from me, a hardcore critic of religious organizations. during my undergrad at the U, i had plenty (almost all that i befriended during my classes/sports/volunteer works) of Mormon kids who were crazy about outdoor activities and sports. they were the ones who actually taught me snowy activities, rock-climbing (in case this hasn't been brought up in the thread somewhere, Utah is GREAT for rock climbing too), desert-camping, and few others. but of course, for anything that involves drinking and such, you'd potentially want non-Mormon friends.

During waiting it out, Chuck Norris doesn't fill the bracketology. All 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 possibilities present themselves to Chuck Norris. It's called march madness because Chuck Norris is mad that each year, they take away his balls to play the games.

some can be directed to the department, and they might reply with few links or with your email cc'ed to current grad students. also check the handbook, it usually has tons of information.

few guesses here: may be he is really busy. trust me, some people are with what they do. it has nothing to do with their personality type. and if i am getting this right, you said sunday would work for you but he didn't respond? that means he probably is busy today as well - work, family, other things. or maybe he is the type who observes the sabbath? if he responded to you enthusiastically before, i am sure his enthusiasm hasn't drooped now. give him some time. i know you are in the waiting phase, and perhaps going crazy. but a slight delay in communication shouldn't really be used as the golden ruler to abruptly measure someone's personality.

i compare adcomms with hoarders. professional hoarders. they acquire things too fast, too many and hold onto those for too long. or forever. i've seen numerous people here on gradcafe say that some schools accepted/rejected them during the summer! wtf, right?

you missed 'research experience' up there. there are numerous of us who have TONS of research experience but no publications, and this has to count. research interest is required obviously, but the depth of research experience is probably more important over # of pubs.

not necessarily. professors and adcomms might still be looking at your file, and perhaps others as well. to get a definite answer, you might want to contact the grad secretary or whoever is in charge of the grad admissions in your department. good luck!
