That should be fine. If you are using Microsoft words to write your paper (I don't want to assume) you can add all the documents that you are using to the bibliography for the paper, which would make populating, and changing the style as easy as a click. Additionally, it also tracks the bibliography for you, so that at the end you don't to check them 5 times to see if you are missing, or have more documents in your bibliography than used in your paper. Plus if any of the given styles don't work for you, you can either download other styles, modify, or create a style that would work for you. (if you do coding).

Though for this particular professor, you may want to wait before asking him for a rec letter, for the others that you already know, you may want to ask them early, because they have other things to do as well, and other students who will wait till the last minute. The quality of of rec letter may be affected by your timing, and the time you give the prof to write the letter for you. Normally, this question should be able to be answered in the sample request from the department you are applying to, but generally, they don't want a theses over 25 pages, (single space) because they have other students papers to read as well, unless your paper is extremely compelling, then go ahead. Otherwise, I don't think they are very particular in your choice of format, but since you will have to do it anyways, chose the format that is used in your field.

I know the first three are really good schools for pragmatic studies. I was accepted to two of them, Indiana, and UF for masters to Ph.D program. I will be attending UF starting this fall studying applied Linguistics focusing on Language Documentation and Computational Linguistics. I am currently working on a lexicographical project, which includes (1) a monolingual dictionary in agriculture and environmental sciences, and (2) an online corpus, which I am currently in the process of building, and can be found at kokray.org. The continuation of this project will be my Ph.D research and project. For UF, I know Mrs Boxer is well know in the pragmatics field, and she is awesome to work with. Nice to meet you too Cee. how is it going? You have a nice list of school there for interlanguage pragmatics. First off, congrats. and I personally like that field, though it is not my specialty. Second, since you already have funding, which you will mention in your application, it will help to ease the process of getting in since the school you are applying to will not have to fund you. If I apply to other universities, and get accepted with other fundings. or if fundings becomes available in my first choice school, should I then switch? or?

Hello fellow linguist, or soon to be linguists, I am currently well, finishing my theses in a lexicographical review, however, I never formally took any courses in lexicography. So, everything that I know so far is from analyzing dictionnaries, and reading books. I would like to either attend a school that has lexicographical courses, or just attend lexicography courses elsewhere. Do you know any schools within the continental United States that offers lexicography as a course, or a set of courses? Or any course that are offered that I could attend, it doesn't have to be in the continental United States! Thank you very much.

So, I have been accepted to two of my top choice schools. My number 1 school does not offer any funding, and my #2 school, I have realized may not be as adequate as I first thought. However, I may have funding. I have decided to accept to attend my second choice school. But now, I am thinking of doing my first year of masters, then possibly transfer to either my first choice, or apply to other schools. What do you guys think? is that a bad idea? and how should I go about it?

So, as most of you may know by now, sometimes, you accept a school because of financial reasons, or other reasons that may make you forgo of your top/first choice school event though they accept you. If you accept to attend a Masters, in route to PhD, which means that you are not a PhD student yet, since you have to reapply for the PhD program. So, does that mean you can quit that master's and attend another school (your primary choice) to which you were already accepted?

Additionally, having published, if you publish any of the papers produced for your project, will make you look certainly better in a PhD application than a master's theses will. And typically, a lot of people write master's theses, and use that to write publishable papers. If you can skip the master's theses, do it. A demonstration of the knowledge of your field which would be demonstrated through the theses will be of better use through the project, and publishable papers. Best of luck.

So, deciding on which school to accept. Can someone accept offers from two different universities at the same time? Starting your first year in one of the choices, to switch to the other university after the first year?

What type of conferences have you attended? where? and what are your experiences? and what advice do you have for those of us just entering this enchanted path?

I also have found that Indiana State U. has a lexicographical studies department, ( though I was not able to find much about it) but Indiana U. have many theses and papers written on Creole lexicography, however, don't have a lexicography program. Any idea on the linguistics department at either/both of these schools?

Anyhow, I am currently applying for my PhD in Linguistics, with a concentration in Lexicography. Maybe I am looking at it from the wrong perspective, however, I am not able to find any school that has this program. My current project is an monolingual agricultural lexic in Haitian Creole.
