That particular orange is awful. I could totally pull off a navy blue or grey 'Cuse shirt, though. Orange really isn't my style. -

You've been more successful with it than I have, haha -

My connection between area of interest and writing sample was tenuous, at best. Hence all the use of strikethrough in my signature. -

Damn. Touché. Not accepted there yet tho so I haven't quite taken on their absurd identifier. -

Maybe SMU? Private schools. Who knows. I don't think I could stand being a horned frog for the simple fact that it's a horned frog. Couldn't pick a better mascot? -

I actually saw that one of Utah's football players is in critical condition after a motorcycle crash. Fingers crossed he gets better. -

It was never that way with Texas and Texas A&M... The lines have been drawn and remained drawn with conference realignment. People get so caught up haha. -

Honestly, I think your writers would understand; they've all been through the application process, and mine at least were very understanding of how I felt after multiple rejections and agreed to help me in any way I felt necessary. Also, Nova says on their website that the deadline might be flexible, so you can always call and talk to them about your situation. And yes! GradCafe picnic. I'm counting on it. -

Yes! Definitely quickly because you would still have to notify letter writers and that kind of thing, but they do seem to be flexible with their deadline. Plus, I have friends in Philly and have been to visit once; I loved it and totally wouldn't mind living there for a couple years. A nice little back up plan, if you ask me and Nova has a great reputation. I have a friend who did his MA there and is writing his dissertation at Penn now. -

I'm right there with you. Syracuse is totally throwing me for a loop, but Villanova has a deadline open for a funded (possibly) MA until March 1, so I'm almost done applying for that just in case the 'Cuse breaks my heart. There are still options, especially if you wanna pursue an MA. I've found that profs are more than willing to adjust their letter to help out -
Should I do an unfunded MA?
despejado replied to Mr protagonist's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
I'm going to second this; there are some good, respectable schools that fund MAs and have deadlines in March and some that have deadlines for students enrolling in the spring semester, also. -

I can get behind Aaron Craft. I will give you that, because I like you and I don't want to hate your school -

You know what's the worst? I'll tell you. Writing 8 additional pages on a course paper to use it in applying for PhD programs, and then having to cut 10 pages of that same paper to apply to MA programs when PhD programs seem to think that's where you belong, anyway. SMH. -

Non Big-10 team is a good rule. Not a Wisconsin or OSU or Michigan fan myself, although I can pull for michigan state sometimes. I like that Syracuse has a player named Rakeem Christmas and he wears 25. How fun. -

Hahaha oh man. I wasn't really thinking about it much during football season because it was before I was getting any notifications, but I totally hope the BCS game sealed your fate as a Seminole. That'd be too good. -
Since I've been offered consideration for Syracuse's funded MA, I find myself watching their basketball team and pulling for them. Hard. It's common knowledge that if their basketball team wins, the good karma extends my way. Anyone else finding themselves suddenly fans and/or haters of new teams as a result of the process? Also: I realize Syracuse has dropped from #1 to #4 since I've been extended consideration. So maybe it's actually in my interest that they lose games...

Oh lord, I wish. Not in Texas. It's shorts weather and they're starting to feel tight. Actually, I'm about to hit up the treadmill right now. I have some stress and anxiety to run off.
