  1. What a crazy day!!! I found out TODAY I am off the wait list for MIT HASTS! (5 yrs funded) This coming after a LOOONG process of rejection after rejection, resigning myself to not being in grad school next year, getting pissed at Anthro as a field in general and having a sorta quarter-life crisis involving getting a sweet intl public health job....and then I got the phone call today and just had a MASSIVE seizure/dance explosion/spaz session.......can't believe something actually happened!! Still reeling.... but incredibly happy
  2. Exact same....MA without funding... I have no idea what to do
  3. I just saw that someone posted a Cultural Anthro PhD rejection (via email) on the Results page. Can anyone confirm?? blarrrghhh
  4. jeeesus i am going crazy. i need some acceptances or glimmers of hope...ughhhhh
  5. Just got the rejection email.... my 3rd rejection in a week. I just need some consolation (And those of you who got the "4 available PhD admissions" -- speak up! Congrats!!)

  7. rejection....confirmed! snail mail makes it so much worse anyone out there commiserating with me??
  8. Yeah, I just noticed on the results page that someone has been wait-listed by post. I'm currently away from home so I can only hope for the best? Meaning wait-list?? UGH. Nasty sinking feeling in my stomach.
  9. Awesome. It seems like EVERYTHING will be decided in 2 weeks. Ahhhh.
  10. Hey! I went to the interview a couple weeks ago. It was pretty straightforward, socializing with current students at a lunch and the interview itself was about 1hr long. Overall the department was really friendly and I love them even more now... Sigh. It was pretty hard to tell how they're doing interviews (or if they're interviewing all applicants) but it seemed about 5 people per interview day, on Feb 12, 19, and 26. I don't know how many they plan to admit....but HASTS only takes those they can fully fund for 5 years. I think results will come in March-ish, but your guess is as good as mine. If you want more details, PM me and I'm happy to describe more thoroughly! I'm just paranoid about HASTS departments reading this good luck!!
  11. Me too Jesus. @vanishingpoint: congrats on both michigan & rice!! 5yrs funding, dude. wow.
  12. HAHAHAHHA. I seriously just laughed aloud at work when I read this. Admissions is a perverse, sadomasochistic dating game of the worst sort. Or like 3rd grade gym and I'm the last kid picked for the dodgeball team
  13. pahahahahha YES to this whole thread. Lord. I was already a Gmail addict, and this process has made me into a straight-up JUNKIE. Anyone else have the "Take a break" lab feature activated? (not that it necessarily works...)
  14. Yeah, I haven't heard a single thing..... which is super-stressful since friends in other fields (Poli Sci, English) HAVE heard already. Anthro depts, get your shit together. Thx.
  15. TOTALLY feel ya on stress eating. But for me it's PB & banana sandwiches and prunes (I know, absolutely gross. I'm like a 60 year-old pregnant fart.) I hate feeling useless and dumb and schlumpy (this is a word I just invented - it's perfect, eh?). WHY DON'T SCHOOLS JUST WANT MEEEEE?!?!?! Prayer to the Gradmissions Gods: if you let me in somewhere, anywhere, I will trot my fat ass off to sign up for a marathon! Er, half-marathon. Ok, just some sort of physical activity. BUT STILL.
  16. I didn't apply to Stanford, but my friend just got an acceptance into the PhD program last Thursday (via email). Looks like the decisions are out? Haven't heard anything from Berkeley...I think that's a bad sign
  17. I have the exact same problem....Interview is on Friday and there's currently an Epic Cocaine Battle going on outside my window. I also haven't left my house in nearly 1 week (working from home). FML.
  18. I guess it depends entirely on the type of program, but I know people who have gotten acceptances - off the wait list - as late as June. (I'm referring specifically to Columbia Public Health here, but I'm sure other schools do this too) So let's keep waiting and hoping!
