  1. Obviously, UofOregon is done, more or less now too... except for some random people they 'may' contact at the end of Feb. I guess I can add them to my 'rejection' list
  2. Apparently UofOregon Clinical has sent all invites... does that maybe mean us Social people will get ours soon? >hopeful<
  3. Not you - I was just saying this to my friend yesterday. Hoping that means I will get some invites soon as my schools don't seem to have sent many [or any!] out...
  4. and no matter how often you explain that to someone - and that only *one* person is getting in [and how many of those people who were rejected had absolutely rocking apps!?] - they still say 'you have x and y experience, you're good' or some other random thing that they've decided is 'the' factor. I think maybe I will say I lost funding, too now that I think about this...
  5. Welp, I'm out then. I'm on a poster for SPSP so I can't ditch it! Maybe they will allow skype / phone interviews for those of us already committed to being in Austin...
  6. Ugh - I hope UBC interviews aren't that weekend - I will be at SPSP! Why would any social programs schedule their interview weekend for 2/14? UBC I feel is a total long shot, anyway so maybe it won't even matter.
  7. I'd like to know UNC social POI, too!
  8. 'you project confidence so you will definitely get in, that's what they like'... uh ok. I don't feel as confident as I apparently seem to be ... and I'm not sure how much that will really play in getting an offer... but sure!
  9. To the person who had a phone interview with U of Oregon (for Social Psych) - can you message me your POI?
  10. The latest I know of for social psych is Jan 2. - nothing Feb and agree about waiting to apply to schools you really love.
  11. Two of my schools did this! One had three of them- with 200 word max or something. What's worse is they were questions they explicitly asked to be answered in the SOP, too. I guess you can always save and log out of the app then come back. It caught me by such surprise that I jus typed an answer that I thought was different enough from SOP to be interesting but not something off the wall. Hope I did well enough on them!
  12. I did a mock interview and they asked really random things. They also asked : tell me about a weakness you have, why are you different from other applicants, why are you interested in this specifically, why this program / POI, what are your strengths, where are you / social psych in 10 years, I am not sure if these are accurate as I had to go to career services, which at my uni is mostly focused on job placement but it was still a good experience. Plus, she is setting up a panel for me with Psych PhD grads next time... that is in 2 weeks.
  13. She just sent them in. I was lucky that although they require all materials by deadline, they had website issues last night so the decision was made to extend the deadline to 1pm today. Talk about lucky. I'm not complaining, though!
  14. One school I applied to [well, actually - if you see my other post, it is the one who my LOR won't send in her letter to, despite sending in to almost every other school!] - explicitly states how they determine who gets to 'level 2' and that all students who get there get an interview [ I don't know if they get a lot of unqualified applicants or they interview a lot of people - maybe by phone first?]. Some of my other schools don't even give past admissions stats OR info on the process so I don't know if I am average amongst applicants, way low or WHAT. I wish they'd tell us so we knew what to expect, even just a little bit!
  15. Well, my LOR writer still won't respond to me and one of the school's deadline has passed and the other extended the deadline until 1 pm today due to technical difficulties. However, they state quite clearly *ALL materials must be received by deadline*. SIGH. That was my top choice, too. Chances she magically gets on today and submits before 1pm? I can only hope... EDIT: She did submit the letter just now. Whew.
  16. I applied to 7, I would have liked to have added NYU to my list but I couldn't figure out of my POI was taking students and so I decided not to for financial reasons. I also applied to one MA program. Of course, one of my letter writers hasn't submitted to two of my schools with deadlines at midnight and I can't get in contact with her... so maybe I only applied to 5 schools! My interests are so specific that I actually applied to 2 different 'research interest' schools - because my first topic only had 2 schools that fit well! Now, I love my other topic, so I would be ecstatic to get in, but I think if 10-12 schools all fit into one or two interests then it wouldn't be too many.
  17. I decided not to apply to NYU last minute but then decided to apply to UBC a few days later... I also applied to one of the POI from UBC's old students. It's a small world.
  18. yes... my apps are all due 12/1 or 1/2 and I am still checking it regularly! Why, I do not know.
  19. I know, I had several schools delay opening apps, too! Actually, the two schools who the prof has not sent in LORs to are the two schools I applied to at the end of October. I had one who I knew would do it this week [and she actually finished them today] but what has me worried is that this prof is very forgetful and had a basic letter done in September. They've submitted everywhere else but these last two. I will contact the schools on Monday to ask about some leniency on deadlines if they aren't in [wouldn't surprise me]. Anyway, good luck everyone! It is almost time to actually start just .... waiting.
  20. I am getting nervous about my letters. One prof hasn't submitted any but I know she is working on them right now, so I feel like they will be submitted on time. Another submitted all but two [one of which is my top choice!]. I emailed maybe 12 days ago to ask about them or if there was any trouble. After getting no reply, I asked in person during our lab meeting. She said to resend links, which I did and let her know. A few days later I let her know the grad sec responded from one school & said they could be emailed and she would add them to the app. After all of this the prof replied that they would work on and submit that day [last Tuesday]. Nothing has been submitted and both apps close this weekend. I am not sure if I should really email her again tonight / Friday - and if schools are typically lenient on receiving letters a few days late?
