  1. I thought that by not responding to my wait list letter at U of T I would automatically be taken off the wait list, but Mabel emailed me today asking for verification if I still wanted to remain on it or not. I am officially off the wait list now, hope that helps someone else out there!
  2. I am planning on living on Campus for UW so I won't have to worry about any utilities, just phone (also no car for me, putting that off until absolutely necessary!!) I'll gladly pay 1000$ a month all in as compared to NYU's 10,000$ per SEMESTER to live in Res, haha - yikes. Of course there are cheaper options living off campus in New York, but at the end of the day I am looking at roughly 1/3 of the cost for the two years, that's still a big difference to me!
  3. I've just went through a similar dilemma deciding between UW-MedSLP and NYU. Seattle having the better program and being MUCH more affordable, but of course the dream of living and working in New York would be incredible. At the end of the day, for me, the gigantic price tag of NYU was what pushed me towards UW. Is the education and experience really worth taking about 200,000$ Student Line of Credit when I can get a better educational experience for less than half of that? This is what I keep reminding myself to solidify my decision: NYU - tuition alone for 2 years - 75,000$ living - roughly 40,000 for two years (modest guess) UW - tuition PLUS living (in one of the more expensive residences equipped with gym and coffee shop and student lounge/library)- 80,000$ ALL IN for two whole years.
  4. Thank you guys! I couldn't wait to tell my friends and fam, but I especially couldn't wait to tell everyone on here! MaxSLP, see you soon!
  5. ACCEPTED TO UW SEATTLE OFF THE WAITLIST!! I could not be happier or more excited!! This will open up a spot for someone at NYU! The long long wait until now all seems worth it!
  6. haha TwinGuy!!! My guess was pretty spot on! Accepted to NYU and wait listed at Seatte - NYU is outrageously expensive and I'm struggling!! Very funny to see this 2 months later.
  7. I did that too! Added my best friend and told her to ignore the invite, then opened the group and removed her!
  8. Waitlisted at UofT but probably taking myself off that - hope it helps someone else! Still holding out hope for Seattle!!
  9. I did my undergrad at Ottawa U and I can confirm that the admin is a COMPLETE nightmare!!! When I was applying for my masters I needed all my transcripts to be sent in (one from Ottawa U, one from Utah State) Utah had theirs signed sealed and delivered within 4 days, UOttawa took about three weeks, nothing showed up at my schools, I called probably 10 times and people kept telling me it "must have been lost in the mail" or maybe "it was never sent" and they tried to charge me again to resend another one. Thats only one of my 45 disaster stories of Ottawa U.
  10. I would love to get in touch with some current NYU SLP students if at all possible! If any of you still lurk these boards, please PM me! Or if any of you SLPeeps know of anyone I would love to ask some questions! Thank you!!!

  12. It was CHEM1010 and I am pretty sure the Prof was David Farrelly!
  13. I took the intro to chem class at USU online and it was incredible!! I do NOT have a brain for that kind of science, but the prof made it easy to learn. He also offered a ton of bonus marks for things and I ended up with 104% in the class before the final exam....just sayin'...haha
  14. I would think that as long as you don't FAIL the class you should be fine? But I am not sure. I wonder if you can email them and tell them what happened so they are aware of the situation. That seriously is a nightmare! I am so sorry for you!! HUGE HUGS!!
  15. Thanks for that info Norcal! definitely eases my mind, haha. Are you in the MedSLP program?? If so I would love to DM you with some questions.
  16. I've applied to MedSLP as well. Seattle has been my number one choice all along, and in general its actually a lot cheaper than NYU would be. It's tough for sure. Some students don't hear back until the summer so I can't just decline NYU and hope to hear by April 15th... I am going to wait it out for a bit for sure. I think I would be happy either way, but I would just be so proud of myself for actually getting into such a tough program to not end up actually going there (seattle). Also the admissions officer told me that they had a record number of applicants this year. On the other hand, if I accept NYU and then withdraw later and lose my deposit, that would open up a spot for someone on THEIR wait list. THIS IS SO HARD!!!
  17. LOL !! Too funny, I hear ya! That sounds phenomenal, can't wait to try!!
  18. So I was wait listed at UofW and just talked to Chrissie Chang. I emailed to ask her where I stood on the wait list and she informed me that their wait list isn't ranked like others would be, so there is no set line up of who is accepted next. I am wondering how many of you are accepted and planning on attending versus accepted and waiting on some other schools and maybe declining your offer? I have also been accepted to NYU so I think I will accept that offer while I am waiting potentially into the summer to hear from Seattle. What's everyone thinking??
  19. Congrats AutismAdvocate! I feel like I've known you through this whole process and it makes me so happy to see you going to a school with such a great Autism program! I love GradCafe, and all the SLPeeps on here!
  20. There it is. Official rejection email from Vandy. Having one acceptance sure does soften the blow! Congrats to all Vanderbilt acceptances and wait lists!!
  21. Woah congrats!!! I was expecting snail mail from Vanderbilt as that seemed to be the primary communication last year. I've heard Vandy has a lot of funding to give, which will probably sway my decision should I get in. Prestige wise, I've heard it is a fantastic program (ranked top 5 in the US!) but I have no cold hard facts to offer.
  22. It's official!! Accepted at NYU and wait listed at Seattle! Couldn't be happier!
  23. The wait is finally over!! Accepted into NYU last night, couldn't be happier!
