  1. The official acceptance letter? Or it's different than acceptance letter?
  2. Hi, I got accepted to a PhD in EE at TAMU. since then I have been looking forward to hearing about funding details. Anybody else in the same boat? Or they send out offers outright after admission? Is there any specific schedule to hear about RAs?
  3. Thanks for your useful info. What about grocery stores? I am travelling from Vancouver to pursue my PhD and currently I could locate HEB which I am not familiar about it. Are there other options for grocery close to CS?
  4. could we include Texas A&M University in the list? they sound great in integrated circuits, too?
  5. What kind of circuits your interests fit most? RF/Analog or Digital/Hardware. Were I you, for the former I would choose UT Austin and for the latter I would choose CMU as you know they are famous for all staff related to computer engineering. Btw congrats
  6. Thanks
  7. I really appreciate for the useful website
  8. Hello, which lists are you searching in for an off-campus housing? In need some info, would you mind sharing me?
  9. Hello, I got accepted to PhD in EE at TAMU and am attending it. just wanted to drop a line and wonder if you would be able to advise me about off-campus and residence housing. Which one do you yourself prefer and got experience? I 'd rather on campus but find it based their website that I am sharing bathroom with other students in all possible options, am I right? How is the off campus?
  10. Thanks, actually I haven't seen their letter ( does it come along with the letter?) and my POI told me he wants to take in with funding but I don't know if he will decide later or mine is without funding. I just realized about acceptance via the update in the online system.
  11. just realized in AIS that I got accepted to a PhD in EE at TAMU, and they are sending an official letter via postal service. In the AIS there is no word of funding yet !! will this come in the formal letter or I was not offered any funding or it will be notified later on. Could you please share your experience on their process?
  12. I have been living in Vancouver for several years, so depending on which university you are attending it differs. I assume you are for UBC, am I right? the best list is craigslist for here but you will find it useful if you would look into the online forum comes with your admission package. There are new students looking for roommates or rental ads or so in the online forum....Unfortunately the rents close to UBC are really expensive but Vancouver offers an excellent translink system that you can find an affordable flat in approximately 30min by bus from UBC. Besides this you may also look into UBC residence halls, if you decide to rent one of the residences on campus, you need to apply as soon as possible; they have a long waiting-list.
  13. Stanford gives you many opportunities and flexibility in tailoring your own selected program but costs $60k /year. Yet it pays off when one already has funds available and/or RA offers, sometimes they offer. I would rather Stanford, specially if your interests lean toward software. You could take CS courses too which add up to your strength. After all, I think all depend on your availble budget.
  14. I remember I have commented on one of your posts lately and we had talked about your application to MSc in power/control at Berkeley. If so, congrats that you got in the program. Were I you, I would rather to go for that option; despite being for a MSc, you are getting a degree at the heart of silicon valley and you have funds available for you. That pays off in particular if you aimed for an industrial career.
  15. congrats, to my mind UIUC is better, specially I believe the job opportunities on power electronics is the wave of future, though I don't know how well paid they are now comparing to other circuit designers.
  16. UT Austin has higher ranking and reputation for EE unless Northwestern is strong for your specific area. Were I you , I would choose UT Austin.
  17. Thanks a lot, yes, it's almost a month that shows the message" not processed yet"
  18. I have submitted my application to University of Texas A&M a while ago, but in the AIS it shows it hasn't been processed yet. Could somebody who is familiar let me know how long did it take in your case to get it processed
  19. What you looked into as the location, curriculum and connection is the point that I would say Stanford is the best choice if you afford.
  20. Totally agree with you. I assumed he is planning for MSc only.
  21. In either way you will need to pay yourself for your studies. However, for UCSD and UCLA, I heard there are fellowships covering all the expenses that are awarded to MSc too. if it's not that case for you, so if I were you, I 'd rather go Stanford EE. Have you got in Stanford EE for this year Fall 2014? or are you planning for next year? I got a reject for a PhD in the similiar area at Stanford EE Good Luck
  22. Though I couldn't get in Stanford EE as the professor in my area prefered to keep his group as small as possible for the time being ( as far as I know nobody else could get in this year, too), the heavy course load for MSc/PhD at Stanford was one thing I was thinking about that might distract you from your own research and publication. The other peers I think may have lower number of courses for PhDs as the case for Berkeley.
