  1. http://www.bestplaces.net/cost-of-living/ This is a good cost of living calculator. You can compare two cities to get an idea of the relative cost to live in each place. It makes it really hard to consider leaving Texas for someplace in the northeast...
  2. I'm happy with whatever circumstances led to the Princeton phone call, no hard feelings at all.
  3. I just got a call from Princeton for a February interview with Biology@Princeton Molecular Biology. I'd thought they were done sending out interviews, but I guess not!
  4. I just got a Rice Systems, Synthetic, and Physical Biology interview! Very excited for this!
  5. I'm in-state, and applied mid November and heard back mid December. The interview is early, January 23rd, so maybe they're waiting until after that to contact international students? Just a guess.
  6. All I've heard about Rice is that they send interview invites in January. The academic term starts Monday, so I would hazard that they'd make some decisions this week.
  7. I submitted on the 1st, so I think I would have been on the "early" pile.
  8. Undergrad Institution: Small private research university Major(s): Biochemistry GPA in Major: 3.33 Overall GPA: 3.56 Position in Class: averageish Type of Student: Domestic GRE Scores (revised/old version): Q: 166 V: 168 W: 4.0 B: 79%ile Research Experience: Heaps and heaps. 4 years at school, 18 months scattered over 4 years at big government research institution. 1 published paper, 1 submitted paper. Special Bonus Points: Female! Applying to Where: Rice UT Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Houston UT Austin CMB Emory MBCD Georgetown BCMB Yale BBS Princeton Biology@Princeton Harvard BBS UC Berkeley MCB Stanford Biosciences I've been lurking for a while and finally decided to actually post. I got an interview at UT Austin a little over a week ago, UT GSBS Thursday, Emory Thursday, and Yale yesterday. I was really worried that my major GPA would somehow automatically disqualify me, but I'm breathing a lot easier now. Good luck everyone!
