  1. For those who are committed to going to HSPH this fall, here is a FB group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/226241637582685/
  2. I'm starting to think about housing, if anyone finds living anywhere either around Harvard Square, Central Square, or south in Cambridgeport let me know!
  3. I had professors at my current program who gave me suggestions of people that might be a good fit for me. I emailed them, making sure to mention my current professors, with whom they have worked with closely. I ended up going and chatting in person before I submitted my applications and it was really useful. It is good when they can put a face to a name. Because I mentioned that specific POI in my statement, he also got to read my application so I wasn't just another applicant at that point.
  4. Also, stipend information is still coming out for me, so I should be fully funded (emphasis on the should)
  5. I basically picked there to work with a specific PI. He is doing a lot of work that I'm currently doing for my MPH and he has close ties with my current professors. I think it all depends also on the department which you go into and the research you want to go into. I'm super excited about it, I'm actually going up to Boston this evening to meet with a few professors to talk about potential research projects I can start on.
  6. Anyone else hear back and decide this is where you want to go? I'll be in the EH department in Environmental Epidemiology.
  7. I've definitely gotten exponentially more lazy, though I still have to finish my Master's thesis and my classes and I have not a care in the world. It's not good.
  8. Just thought I'd start a thread for those who have decided they will be attending Harvard this fall! I'm going to be at the Harvard School of Public Health getting a ScD in Environmental Epidemiology. I'd love to connect with people who are planning to attend the school!
  9. I agree with all that has been stated here. I'm currently getting my MPH at Columbia and all my friends in the PopFam department absolutely love what they are doing. One thing I will say is that the Core curriculum here at Columbia is still getting some kinks figured out, it will be a lot of work, but it really helps prepare students thinking about public health problems with an interdisciplinary focus, rather than a departmental focus. I can't speak much about the PopFam department itself, I'm EHS, but really any MPH experience is what you make of it and the effort you put in to network. The city is pretty great, the school housing is "affordable" at about $1000-$1200/month depending, but it is well worth it. There are also several other places to live in the city and there is always something to do. With that said, I'm from Washington state and I've basically grown up in Seattle, so part I can't put it down. Seattle is a beautiful place and UW is really a fantastic school. Like FreeRadical has stated, there are plenty of places to do networking in Seattle and they are all great. Also if you love just seeing nature and not transplanted nature, it's also wonderful. The cost of living there is significantly less, you will be paying about $1000 for an entire apartment instead of just a room in NYC. You should also take into consideration whether or not you want to have a car, this is a big factor, because as much as Seattle has public transportation, it really is a city where you should have a car. The U district is a great place where there is always something going on and really fun places to eat (then again so is NYC). Like Faithfullywaiting stated, make a pro- and con- list, not just about the school, but the location. When I was deciding schools I definitely noted professors I wanted to get in touch with and when I got to school, I got involved in the department with research and TAing, so make sure there are professors at both schools that you want to potentially work with.
  10. Thanks! Yeah, of course it is! I really enjoy the Columbia Mol Epi program, it also it what you make of it. I have done my fair share at being really involved in the department, but a lot of the professors that I've hard are absolutely fantastic! Best of luck!
  11. Just was notified of an acceptance at Harvard for the ScD program in Environmental Epi
  12. I'm currently at Columbia MPH, and I was notified late Feb. for my acceptance into the MPH program. In regards to this, from what I understand the new HPM program they are trying to transition to a MHA program so they might start interviewing for those who apply for this program (also there might be a difference between the executive MPH/MHA and Columbia MPH/MHA). I don't know as much information about the HPM program except from my friends who just finished this past Dec.
  13. They emailed me Jan 14th and it is an on-site email. I was emailed by a professor, but not one that I stated I would want to research for, so not sure if they do it by lab and who they think would be a good fit that way or by school.
  14. I applied to BU- EHS Harvard- Environmental Epi SD Harvard- Biological Sciences in Public Health Thus far I have an interview at BU EHS in mid Feb
