  1. I think it depends on the program you are applying to and how competitive it is. I imagine places like UCSF, Stanford etc don't have very high acceptance rates after interviewing.
  2. Worst:Brown was annoying as hell. I couldn't navigate to any page i wanted to. Why have a 13 page application if you are going to do that? Best: University of Arizona-ABBS so easy to navigate and the application was all on one page.
  3. That totally makes sense. Lol Intro to Neuro was sooo long ago. I can't believe I forgot all of it.
  4. Liquor and episodes of Archer on netflix.
  5. Not a neuro person but is it supposed to be an axon and nodes of ranvier?
  6. So there is still hope!!!

    Interview Advice

What about doing a masters program. I know some programs will use your last 60 units or test scores if you don't have a 3.0. CSU Channel islands has a biotechnology and bioinformatics masters degree program. Take a look a it. http://biology.csuci.edu/bio_mos.htm Maybe this could be an option. Also some graduate programs have diversity essays where you could explain your situation. Take a look at this website for Professional Science Masters: Bioinformatics/Computational Bio http://www.sciencemasters.com/PSMProgramLocator/tabid/141/Default.aspx
  8. I received my interview offer 2 weeks after other people posted getting interviews in this thread so you may still have a chance. I know they were still going through applications when I got my interview offer. The first week was filled up though when I signed up for the interview. They had close to 1000 applications for PIBS this year.
  9. Does anyone know of Virginia BIMS or UCSB MCDB have sent out all their invites?
  10. University of Kansas MCB is Jan 15th I think, it acutally may be later than that.
  11. Anyone know if Vanderbilt IGP has sent out all of their invites? What about Virginia BIMS?? Good luck to everyone who applied to Stanford, hope you guys get awesome this week!!!
  12. Yeah some people heard back mid december, I heard back the following week. I think all the interveiws may have been sent out. I know the Jan interveiw date is full not sure about the feb date.
  13. Best: WashU replied the next day to my emails even after applications were due Worst: Vanderbilt stil hasn't replied to me, its been over 3 weeks. Guess I know what that means.
  14. For those that got rejected from UCSF that sucks I"m sorry.
  15. Emory BCDB and MSP sent out all their interviews for this cycle. Got an email from the program coordinator. Got super excited for a second. Oh well guess it was t meant to be!
  16. There is already a waitlist for Emory? Crap then I got rejected then cuz I haven't heard from them yet. That blows.
  17. Anyone know if Emory BCDB and Arizona ABBS have sent out all their invites??
  18. They probably send them out in waves now. The number of apps increase each year so I doubt they can send them out in one day. Seriously, If I can hear from Michigan 2 weeks after other people posted interviews on this forum you should be fine. It seems like a big program. Really small programs do it all at once. The UC I am at has a small MCD program they get close to 100 applications a year and they reviewed everyone in 2 days and sent out the interview offers a couple of days later all at once.
  19. I have food poisoning so I honestly thought I hallucinated the phone call but my phone says i didn't. I know PIBS gets a lot of apps and maybe they went department by department for the interviews. I have a friend who applied to Cornell's Microbial Pathogenesis program also, I'll ask her if she's heard back. Congrats on the University of Washington interview!!
  20. I got a phone call for an interview at Michigan this morning. I was sure that I had been rejected after people had posted getting interveiws two weeks ago. Its my top choice so I'm more than excited. Two interview dates to choose from Jan 30-2 and Feb 6-9. Looks like they are still sending out invites!! Does anyone know if Arizona ABBS has sent out all of its intives yet? Anyone have an update about Vanderbilt IGP or Emory BCDB???
