I received an e-mail saying I was on the short end of the waitlist. --- I find this encouraging but also extremely odd. Can anyone comment? I think I may need a little luck this week that just one person declines their offer, but i'm not sure what the "short end" of their waitlist means..

I reached out to them. I have been emailing back and forth with one of my interviewers who I connected really well with. He recommended me for admissions and sent an email to the director of the program, but it doesn't seem like he had as much say as I had hoped. So eventually I just called them, and they told me today I was very high on an alternate list and will be receiving an email later on today about it.

Anyone have any suggestions or insight about being "high" on the alternate list at a school that only offers 5 slots? I can't imagine all 5 people would commit - since everyone applies to so many schools. But I guess that is just me being hopeful….

Called Baylor Immunology and they said they put me very high on their alternative list. I know they only offer 4-5 spots and don't send out more invitations than they have spots. I'm not sure if they ever go off their waitlist group or what "very high" means. Happy Friday...

True - when I was there last weekend they said they would take two weeks or so to get back to us but may be sending an invitation or two to their top candidates and have done that already with a few. But the majority will not hear until the interview weekends are over and have a few weeks to decide.

I think what happens is that programs send out invites to a few of their top candidates (the candidates who are also getting invites from their top top tier programs as well) first, and then wait to send out the rest of their decisions a few weeks after their interviews are over. I almost want to say that there actually is nothing wrong with the fact that a lot of us haven't heard back from most of our programs yet. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Last year it looked like people were still receiving decisions late march - post interviews. I hope it doesn't take that long, but I think it might.

I'm starting to get discouraged. I'm not sure if no news is bad news at this point. I've heard back from 2 out of 6 places post interview. One good, one bad. but I am still waiting on my top 3 choices and not a peep... I clearly have no patience.

From UMASS Medical - Worcester - "Dear __, Your application is still in play and will need a bit more time to finish evaluations and comparison of candidates. Sorry for the delay on this and we appreciate your patience. A bit of an anxious time, I know!"

I feel like I may start asking this question every day until I hear SOMETHING. Baylor Immuno - I don't get what's taking them so long... I think I am going insane as well.

I just interviewed for them last weekend. They said they have sent out a few invites but will be sending most of their invites in the next two weeks (at least for this last interview weekend which was the last one).

It's quiet here today.

I've been waiting on Baylor Immuno since January 30th. I thought they would have already sent decisions out but the director said they hadn't about 2 weeks ago. That could have changed though...but I have no idea what's taking so long.

I interviewed a while back for UMass Medical and I'm still waiting. My interviewer told me they finished interviews last Monday so we should hear soon, but I'm still twiddling my thumbs.

I am assuming that for Umass Medical - Worcester too because other people have heard already. But I think they are all coming in waves...

I am still crossing my fingers for Baylor Immuno. Again, has anyone heard yet? As of last Monday they hadn't sent out any invitations yet.

So good I can't even describe it. I know it's not my top choice, but it's still a school I would be proud to go to. I am still waiting to hear back from my top 3 choices, but right now it doesn't even matter. Because no matter what, I know what I am doing next year.

Has anyone else not been accepted post interview yet? Not enjoying this waiting game.

What program did you accept and which ones were you waiting to hear back from? Were they post interview? I assume if you haven't received an interview somewhere at this point its safe to accept an offer somewhere else.

If some good news doesn't come in tomorrow, I may go crazy.

Rejected post interview from UC Davis Immunology. Saw that one coming - I think it showed how much I disliked the program during recruitment weekend. Where's the good news???

Baylor Immuno anyone? I'm going crazy - anxiously waiting for them.

I've got all 6, post interview, to hear back from. I'm hoping something comes in tomorrow.

LOVED UNC. Interviews are officially over, and now I wait. Hope decisions come ASAP...I'm still waiting to hear from anyone post-interview.
