  1. Is anyone else still waiting on Boston University (English PhD)? It looks like they've sent out some acceptances, rejections, and waitlists but I've heard nothing!
  2. For those of you who have been accepted or rejected, did your status change on the website? Just want to know if checking my status is a futile effort.
  3. Thanks for the input, Fiona. Do you have any insider knowledge as to whether all offers have been made? They've been staggering rejections and my hope was that they were also staggering acceptances.
  4. Congrats, Dazed! Was the email personalized?
  5. Can anyone claim that UT Austin rejection?
  6. Am I the only one writhing in agony with multiple implicit rejections?
  7. Wisconsin admit-- may I ask what your area is?
  8. http://www.lsa.umich.edu/english/grad/howtoapply/lang.asp I followed these guidelines: Clearly labeled academic & intellectual Statement of Purpose: up to two pages, double spaced, statement about your academic and research background, your career goals, and how Michigan's graduate program will help you meet your career and educational objectives. Disregard the 500 word limit as stated on the application. Clearly labeled biographical Personal Statement: up to two pages, double spaced, statement about how your personal background and life experiences, including social, cultural, familial, educational, or other opportunities or challenges, motivated your decision to pursue a graduate degree at the University of Michigan. This is not an Academic Statement of Purpose, but a discussion of the personal journey that has led to your decision to seek a graduate degree. Disregard the 500 word limit as stated on the application.
  9. Bumped: Can anyone provide any new insight on the rumor that BU doesn't like to admit MA holders? BU was on my application list, but now I'm reconsidering.
  10. Re: Rutgers. Is anyone's RUID taking like a week to be verified?
  11. Seconded. My approach is similar. I cut down a 40 page paper to 13 pages. I think NYU's app is pretty interesting in that it is idea-oriented rather than development-oriented. Sort of like, "If you could describe yourself as a scholar in one word, what would it be?"
