Yeah, I believe so. Dont feel bad, I didnt get invited either

They definitely will. Your GRE scores are great, what is your major GPA and lat two years GPA?

I've just been accepted to the behavioral neuroscience program. Looking forward to knowing more about Morganstown. Is it a pretty liberal town? What is rent usually?

Applying for Neuroscience/Neurobiology Ph.D. programs for Fall 2014
iammaffyou replied to RetJitter's topic in Biology
I've been accepted to West Virginia University and University at Buffalo's Behavioral Neuroscience programs. I am having a hard time choosing between the two. Albeit, both these programs are based out of the psychology departments they encourage collaboration with the Neuroscience departments. Does anyone have any thoughts on the two? Does one rank noticeably higher than the other? -
Need to formally accept before funding information??
iammaffyou replied to deci:belle's topic in Decisions, Decisions
To further elucidate on this matter, as its quite prevalent here, UB has multiple ways to fund students. Some are from the university itself and thus students are accepted prior to receiving an official funding offer to try and secure funding from outside the department. Obviously there are many advantages to that, primarily being the department can accept a student without the financial burden. For example, I was accepted early because the department thought I would be a prime candidate for the Schomburg Fellowship which provides students with a larger stipend and for a longer duration. My best advice is to contact the faculty member who coordinates everything and ask for more details. Personally, I would do this over the telephone as details are often hard to convey through email. Hope this helps. -

No, you don't have to accept to receive your funding information that will come from the department soon. I was accepted to UB on 1/22 and just got my funding information today. -
Behavioral Neuroscience 2014 and future applicants!

Does anyone know anything about the University at Buffalo or West Virginia University's programs? Would anyone suggest one over the other? Does anyone know anything regarding prestige of either of these schools? -
Got an email asking for Fall grades. How should I respond?
iammaffyou replied to iammaffyou's topic in Waiting it Out
They only asked for my courses that I took Fall 2014 and how I did in them - I submitted my transcripts prior to this with all my coursework. -
My top choice and I had communication for almost a year, I had visited the campus and met with a ton of faculty members. I asked how I could become a competitive applicant and they told me to present at Society for Neuroscience conference - so I did.... 2 posters! I found out today that I'm not even being considered for an interview. That really hurts.... after a full year.

I applied to 9 schools and only received an interview for 2 of them. =x

I got an email asking me what courses I took in the fall and how I did on them. The school already has my transcripts prior to this. I am nervous to respond because I retook a course I failed this past summer and got a C instead of D+. However, I am petitioning to have the C replace the D+ (and likely this will happen in just a few weeks). Further, I am in graduate school now the 3 courses (4 including the one I retook) I took for personal benefit I received a B, B+, C, and a D+. These grades significantly bring down my GPA, but within my required classes for my masters degree I have not received anything lower than an A-. I want to justify everything but don't want to make excuses or harp on reasons why my GPA isn't where I would like it. I have attached what I have so far. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

I didn't get a CUNY invite, this is extremely disappointing and a little surprising considering I have been in contact two 2 POI's for over a year.
-
I applied but have yet to hear anything. I contacted my POI and they mentioned decisions would be made this week on who to interview, with a tentative date of the 28th

That does seem a bit odd, perhaps they emailed you by mistake? I would write back and inquire more information. Also, I got an interview for WVU for their Behavioral Neuro program. Has anyone heard anything about their program? -
Hey everyone, I know there have been some past threads discussing what to expect during a Skype interview, but none of them seemed to have any responses (from what I saw). Anyways, I have two interviews scheduled for a behavioral neuroscience program. Each one will consist of the PI and graduate students in their laboratory. What questions should I prepare for? What should I wear?

Applying for Neuroscience/Neurobiology Ph.D. programs for Fall 2014

I wrote to a potential PI regarding the CUNY Neuroscience Collaborative. Decisions on who to invite for interviews will be made this week. Interviews will take place 2/28. -
Hey everyone, I was thinking if I have a choice of schools to attend for my doctoral degree how important is it the ranking of the school? Does it matter when I apply for grants, faculty positions, post-docs? Are there major differences from a school in the 30's to that in the 60's to that in the 80's?
-
I've gotten accepted at UB, invited to interview weekend at WVU and have my second phone interview today, and nothing from CUNY. CUNY takes forever I have heard as well, which is bad because it's one of my top choices.
-
I am in the program now and was discussing with some people that interviews will be on the 24th and 25th, I believe. Invitations have not been sent out yet and they are just beginning to review applications. Just an update for anyone waiting, it's an amazing program. I am so glad I decided to go with SDSU.

They gave an aloof "next month" preceded by a "uhhh"

I called my schools today, all except CUNY seemed to understand and be helpful.
