  1. I'm not sure if this is helpful, but I applied and I think I am missing one prerequisite. I just figured I'll take it in the spring or summer, if I can. I haven't been accepted or rejected yet. So, I'm really not sure what to make of it. I mean, I really don't think it's that big of a deal if you have to take a few while or before starting grad level classes, but I'm sure if they are comparing my app. To someone else's who has them completed they will prob choose them? Unless they were just being strict on the site... Or if they really like you.

I didn't apply to some programs for this very reason also. It's definitely understandable, but I would call to find out!

Someone got accepted yesterday. Wish they would call. I'm afraid to get the mail ugh.

  2. Two weeks, okay thats not so terrible... I can live on hope for two more weeks lol

    Thanks for the update!!

Seton Hall come on come on accept us. (thats my chant)  :P or maybe its a demand..

I need to write LOCI and I feel like I am applying all over again. sucks.

  3. Hmmm.. I live like 30 minutes from Seton Hall. Do you know when the received the letters?

I really hope it's the case of sending out the acceptance in very small waves! I feel like soo few were accepted, from what it looks like on gradcafe, they can't be finished yet! They are taking such a long time though.  :(

  4. I've been accepted to Texas Tech for their online ABA graduate certificate, and am going to look for a job in ABA. With the courses and the hours I log as a therapist, in a year I should be able to get my BCaBA certification! (If I don't get into either of my last two schools) I figure it will look good to schools in the future that I have work related experience, have shown I can be successful at the graduate level, and passed a certification test for ABA. I will probably also retake the GRE since my GPA is nothing to look at, and my existing scores are pretty average.

That sounds like a pretty solid plan!

  5. I wish I had gotten into Montclair! I applied last year and my status said under review for a longggg a** time and then I was rejected. This time my status changed to 'decision made' last Sunday and then I was waitlisted. Not sure if this helps and obviously this doesn't mean every case is the same, but figured I'd share.

  6. @smrv- lol Maybe, which is just so odd! I thought the decisions would be trickling in all this week! Driving me a bit crazy.

@Greyhound- Hmm, yea maybe they are busy renewing their status. Sorry I lumped the groups together, I've heard 20 undergrad and 20 non.

I wonder how many applied. I think Montclair gets like 700+ applicants. And i've read that William P. got 350. Although the odds are against anything positive, I really do feel good about this program!

  7. Ahhhh! I really hope so! Lets go with that...There's no way they let all 40 know, there would def be more posts. I wish the people who found out would talk to us...lol It's so funny because she (or he) already rejected the offer. Maybe Seton Hall is sad. lol ughhhh tell us!

  8. Hmmmm. It's so hard getting through sometimes..Maybe I'll try calling tomorrow. Yea, its just so weird that only two people have posted so far! I agree, no news means there is hope! There's no way the first wave has been sent out..right? Maybe those people are Seton Hall undergrads.

  9. lolol I swear the mail people come whenever they want! They had it coming ;) Aww, that sounds like a sad story (from a movie lol), but I bet it felt good to let it out! Perhaps I should start checking flights... I once had a roommate who told me that it's poisonous not to cry. I feel the same way, this whole process brings out our strength and shows how resilient we really are! I love your outlook on this past year, thats really nice and definitely part of the journey. I applied last year to two programs and realized the obstacles I would need to overcome.. just hope I did that! Agreed, after all of this torture an acceptance is going to feel amazing, and we will be even more grateful. We will get in! it's not over yet and there is still hope- hanging on until the very end. we can do it :) Thank you and good luck!

  10. Shopping for a Spring wardrobe is my new obsession because I have no control over this process anymore  ^_^ Just neeeed one..

The mailman must think i'm a troll...as soon as he drops off the mail, I run out of my garage, down to the mailbox and then I disappear until the next day when the mail arrives again lol - I wish I worked earlier because I'd have to wait. AND everything comes through email anyway, so what? am i doing.  Figured I'd share a little bit of my want-to-be SLP life.

  11. On that psych major deal -  did you at least minor in SLP?  I am beginning to actually wonder about all of us getting BA's in SLP almost being at a disadvantage to those who didn't do that and might be considered somewhat more well rounded or different in some positive way... sigh... its always something, isn't it? lol ...

I didn't minor in SLP, I have a minor in Italian lol. I haven't been accepted yet, and from what it looks like all of the people majoring in SLP have a definite advantage. Just the fact that you knew what you wanted to do and what you needed to do in order to get into grad school. Plus, us out of fielders have to take more classes to try and catch up. I bet your personal statement is way more "speechie" than mine also because that is your background. I'm sure the list could go on... Anyway, I do understand how you feel because this has been your plan, but I am sure you will get in.

I think it is a good thing that the field is becoming more diverse. I think it will grow better that way. Treating speech/language disorders is a multidisciplinary job!

  12. I saw that post too! Yea, maybe they are calling a few each day because I've read somewhere that they are accepting 40 applicants, 20 spots for Seton Hall undergrad and 20 other.

Congratulations on all of your acceptances!! Do you mind sharing your stats?
