That's a total bummer Lorenzojojo. Seriously, don't let it get you down. Well, okay... let it get you down for a month. Cry. Drink wine. Cry while drinking wine. Sleep. Do it again. Do whatever you need. Then...... after that month. Get up and figure out where you want to go from there. You are a super strong candidate! You have 7 years of teaching experience. You have volunteered in the community. Great GRE (way better than me). And a killer GPA! There is a program (if not 100 programs) that wants you. No doubt! If this is really where you are meant to be in life then don't let this ONE rejection stop you. -

While ASHA may have said that - it seems to be somewhat speculative. I think it all depends on the program and when they have time to convene as a committee. As you can see, there are already schools giving notices regardless of where they stand on the rankings. This is because the faculty that sits on the admissions committee often times has many of responsibilities to attend to during the semester. They have to pick a time that is best for the whole group. My speculative two cents: the two schools I have been accepted to have actually mirrored the results search too. I don't expect all the programs that I apply to do this but I think it has been a good general guideline. -
That's actually why I applied to both. There are aspects of both fields that peak my interest and allow me to work with the population that I want to work with in the long term. I have spoke with my mentors and we have talked about the similarities and differences between both programs. So, the way I planned out my applications was by selecting programs that would severely pull me one way or the other. I chose my top program in each field (only two, while the rest just back up) and if I get accepted into one and not the other then I know for sure that I was meant for that program. If I get accepted into both then I will lay out the pros and cons of both programs and choose based purely on benefits and funding. While I know there are a lot of variables, I have found that with my current acceptance I already know where I want to be. Applying to both became merely a security blanket and opened my options. Since you have already been accepted, I wouldn't hold off a year but take the year in the program to see how you really like the field especially if either of the programs put you into clinic immediately. I know that some programs allow you to petition for interdepartmental transfers (SLP to PhD program). I just don't know about SLP to AuD. You might want to look into that...

I was wondering the same thing - however, it might be best to email the liaison that emailed you your acceptance letter.

Random side note: That Ted Talk was awesome! I am definitely going to try that out! Here is another one to help out with interviews: http://www.ted.com/talks/kelly_mcgonigal_how_to_make_stress_your_friend.html -

Ya, I just brought it up because it seems like the "leveler" acceptance pool is different than the pool for individuals coming into the grad program with the speech background. This was to ease babink's nerves a little if they were worried about not hearing from the program. -

Nope, I think we are all the same. 2 seasons of Call the Midwife. Season 3 starts this spring. PS! Who would have thought that PBS would actually be cool again? I mean beyond Sesame Street. -

Netflix is beyond evil - the people are probably reviewing my watch time and judging me. Jerks. I am in the same boat. I am trying to take in the freedom as much as possible. -

My dream is to get accepted into my #1 school (UofM - AuD). My hope is to get accepted in a program with some funding. My guess is that life take control and tell me where I am supposed to be (whether in a program or not, whether with funding or none). I am just along for the ride. -

Awesome that you liked it! It was super hard to pull away from when I first starting watching it too! -
I also think that it depends on the program. I know that some programs like Maryland say explicitly that there are no deferred enrollments. So, check with the program. I am sure that exceptions can be made and are taken on a case by case basis.

This! -
That is most likely because the faculty didn't submit their opinions of their programs. In my search for the reliability of the ranks, I have read that even some schools refuse to participate in the US News rankings.

Ya you definitely get more movement! Heck, the idea of wearing one in CA is crazy to me!

The deadlines could have changed from one year to another.
