Hey root-kefir, 3 room double means that there are 3 rooms for 2 people in the apartment : 2 bedrooms and one living room. You should have the unit number s.t. you can look on the floor plan for the layout (on the housing website: https://sp.princeton.edu/uservices/housing/floorplans/graduate/ you will need a puid though -- if you don't have one yet, pm me and I'll send you the pdf). In general 3 room doubles in OGC are very nice, congratulation!

Hey Ms Clio, you're welcome! Free breakfast is for graduate college resident only, you need to swipe in if you go to breakfast at one of the other residential colleges. It's a very average continental breakfast, but you can always bring your own stuff in to complement it. Take care!

Heyy MsClio! NGC is fine, and dining halls are a great way to meet people outside of your department imo. 95 meals is what the majority of people take and is enough for 6.5 meal a week, usually dinners monday through friday, sunday brunch. You also get free breakfast in GC and most people I know grab something to eat with their lab-mates for lunch. In my experience there wasn't that many people using the common kitchen, so it would be feasible to cook there regularly, although not sure if you'd want to after seeing them (they are rather unclean, which create some problem with insects...)

Hey adjunct, most contracts will be sent towards the end of May. If you need to contact the housing office, you should call them, they are notorious for ignoring emails.

Hey Ronny, As cs_phd has written, GPA is just one of many thing they look for, and probably one of the less important: there might be a cut-off based on GRE/GPA, but after that, what counts is reference letters, research experience (including publications), and statement of purpose (mostly for fit with prof/department). You will be competing with master's students for phd spots, but the admin committees take in account the years spent in graduate school already when evaluating research potential...depending on the venues/first authorship, 3 publications coming out of BS is very good to excellent! By the way, cs_phd is right in saying there are other good programs in the field outside of big 4, you should look at it by advisors rather than programs -- you probably want to discuss with your undergraduate profs/LoR writers and grad students in your field if you have access to them about the reputation of different potential advisors before applying. Most first year graduate students live in dorms (NGC, some OGC), but then move into apartment-style housing (lakeside, lawrence) for the remainder of their program. I don't find NGC that bad, and I'm glad I had a meal plan for the first year as it is quite convenient and it is probably the best way to meet people outside of your department. Sharing a bathroom with 5 other people is annoying ofc but the janitors clean it every day so there's no problem there... Also, you can ask for a two-room single in NGC if you want more space.

Yeah, you do participate in the incoming draw if you apply for housing by the April 15th (see https://hres.princeton.edu/graduates/incoming-students).On the application form, you will rank the different type of rooms from your favourite to the last one you would accept. You should probably avoid selecting "OGC double" if you don't want a walk-through. Good luck!

Yeah the "1 bedroom" all have one bedroom and one kitchen+living room. You can see the floor plans on the websites of Lakeside and Lawrence. If you select two bedrooms, you'll only occupy one bedroom, and (most likely) you will have a roommate living in the second bedroom. Good luck!

GC contracts are for 10 months, you can get a summer contract or you can decide not to (e.g. if you are away for an internship). Apartment contracts are for the whole year (July to the end of June), per https://hres.princeton.edu/graduates/my-housing/your-contract

This is false, afaik all cs masters admits to Princeton get TAship + tuition waiver which I assume is the package received by OP.

I am also a current graduate student, and was asking because while, as bigrelief said, the divide is a common saying, it seems exaggerated, and I haven't felt, in my short experience, as a second-class student. bigrelief: regarding undergraduate clubs and events, most of them are open to graduate students as well. bleep_bloop: don't take the comments section of the daily too seriously...

Same experience here, although situation might be slightly different next year without Stanworth and Butler and with Lakeside. In any case, you should be able to get into Lawrence assuming, as Bleep_Bloop said, that you are flexible on the type of apartment. I don't think there's an official answer on this, but someone on http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/princeton-university/914031-child-of-graduate-school-graduates-a-legacy.html says probably not.

Hi happyseal, congrats! As far as I know the guest policy is not enforced at all. I see guests all the time in the dining hall for (free) breakfast and it doesn't seem to bother the employees. The bathrooms are not co-ed, though, so your partner might have to walk a floor up or down for that.

https://hres.princeton.edu/my-housing/summer-housing As far as I understand it, if you draw GC again, you stay in GC for the summer, o.w. you stay in GC for an extra 1 month (June) before the start of the apartment contract.

For what I understand, probability of getting into lakeside is very low, but you should be able to get something in Lawrence. If you still get placed in GC, remember that you can ask to be switched around a month in or so. All the people I know who asked to switch from NGC to OGC, NGC 2-room to NGC single and GC to Lawrence (or Buttler, forgot) got what they requested. About vegetarian/vegan friendly, restaurant-wise it's average, there's one tea+vegetarian place that I know of. In dinning hall, you usually get 1 or 2 vegetarian entrees every day in each dining hall. You can look at the menu on https://campusdining.princeton.edu/dining/_Foodpro/location.asp(meal plan can be use at any of the dining hall). This menu is in addition to a salad&veggie bar, ice cream/froyo and to-order grill (only veggie option they often have there is portobello mushroom, but sometime they'll have eggplants or more...). I've heard good thing from vegetarian friends about the vegetarian coop 2D http://twod.mycpanel.princeton.edu/

Hi rjparson, The housing website lists only Lakeside as pet friendly (butler will have closed by the start of next year). I thought Lawrence apartments were pet friendly, but they don't seem listed as such on the housing website, you might have to email them about that. It will probably be significantly harder to get placed into Lakeside than into Lawrence next year.

hey doomination, Grats on the accept Lakeside should open over the summer, you can request it in the housing draw but returning students have priority over first year outside of the graduate college. You can't request "old" specifically, you only say "single GC", "double GC", ... where "single" means a room without roommates in either new or old graduate college. Most likely outcome is that you will be placed in a single NGC room. It is however easy to get moved to OGC or a 2-room single in NGC if you ask them around a month after the move-in date. You can PM me if you have more questions about housing or Princeton in general.

I'd say it is very likely that you will get a TAship, you will have priority as an unfunded graduate student and they often have more position than people applying for the first round (although it might not be for the course you wanted to TA in the first place). Who would your advisor be? If he/she's teaching something in the second term, you can expect to be chosen over students from outside his/her group. Good luck, PM me if you want more info/advice!

Not sure about your question for the US, but some universities in Europe have rolling admissions or deadline based on when the position notice was sent out. You can look at (recently) archived mailing lists in your subdomain for advertised positions.

Looks ok, if a bit long. - Should include a list of publications, if any - I'd remove the references section if you are also submitting reference letters. - The technical skill section doesn't seem of interest for applying to an academic program... - You can probably summarize /cut some of the points in the professional work section. I'm assuming you are addressing somewhere else the reasons for applying for a second master and for not having your master's advisor as reference.
