  1. Seems reasonable enough to me.
  2. Thus far, I only hear from schools as I'm going to/from my game theory class. Good news guys, I have game theory today.
  3. Yes! I just want it all to be over!
  4. Yeah. I feel like I should get a bottle of champagne and a bottle of bourbon, to be prepared in any scenario. I'm like a Boy Scout.
  5. Next week's going to be a heavy week...I can feel it...just in time for Valentine's Day. At least sadness chocolate will be readily available.
  6. I know I'm a little late to the party today, but so good to know I'm not the only one with an "incomplete" for UM. Also, congrats to all the Washington admits! That's great!
  7. Sometimes I feel like people are just making things up.
  8. Meh. Most in my department view it as, "If you're doing research with us, we're all on the same level." That being said, my research advisor told me over coffee once while we were discussing my graduate school plan that if I didn't start calling him by his first name very soon, he was going to lose his shit and just cuss me out one day until I called him by his first name. Of course, he also hates how everyone here (he says it's a southern thing) calls him "sir". But I digress.
  9. Well then. I don't remember if I clicked the MA box or not....not that I care at this point.
  10. First, congrats to everyone that got an acceptance today! Second, obviously the common denominator with these is I applied to none of them. Therefore, that's the only logical reason they all came out today. You're welcome.
  11. The purpose of interviews can vary significantly. I'm pretty sure one of mine this cycle was done entirely to ensure I'm sane. That being said, My POI just called me up out of the blue and chatted for half an hour. That being said, I think I prefer this method. (At least I did with her, when the phone rang, I said, "Hello" and she says, "Hi, this is *Name of Prof* at *Name of University* and my first thought was, "Oh. Crap." and I used a lot of her work in my senior thesis. On the other hand, my scheduled interviews have included, "Are you sure you want to go here?" Which was rather uncomfortable. They might ask something trying to figure out if you think they're competitive compared to the other schools you've applied to. Further, I got the, "How strong do you consider your methods?" questions as well. Just be prepared for the generic, "Why'd you apply here?" as well as how to repeat your SOP in 3-5 sentences.
  12. Haha. I can relate. Anyway, I hear TAMU doesn't care that much about GREs. I know one of the endowed chairs thinks they're irrelevant, he's not a theory guy though
  13. What prof do you want to work with at TAMU?
  14. Thanks so much! It was very much a relief, I won't lie. I got to stop the, "what if I get in nowhere?" thoughts. You have some really solid stats, btw! Good luck!
  15. I'm right there with you....zero solid info other than admitted.
  16. Huzzah! Now then, back to sharing in one another's anxiety.
  17. While I recognize the importance of understanding yourself, I also watched my mom do grad school one class at a time while working a full time job and raising 3 kids. I just know that if I don't do it now, I'll probably get caught up in everything else and never pursue what I really want to do when it comes to graduate school. I'm also looking forward to having my PhD at an early age rather than being in my 30s and being able to consider programs in any region I want.
  18. Everyone's getting into Duke and I'm over here rechecking my Ohio State status to make sure it hasn't changed while I tell myself, "No matter what happens, you can go freeze your ass off in Ohio."
  19. I took a Vis Rhet class in my Communication department, and we studied comics in my Pop Culture class. And yes, I did just pick classes that sounded like they would require very little work.
  20. I actually think finally being admitted into a school is making sitting through undergraduate classes more painful. That being said, I've spent the entire time I've been in this class refreshing the results page.
  21. So, a degree in giving people degrees?
  22. That seems incredibly specific.
  23. It was from the college of ed. I would give it more credit if they did call it literacy though...it was rather painful to watch so many PhDs of Reading be awarded.
  24. Do any OSU admits know anything about visitation weekend or when/how we'll find out this info?
