I am in the same boat. Mine was downright rude! Did you say so in your survey of the process? I did, because I think the FPA for my school needs to be replaced, and soon.

and NOT this...

Wouldn't it be great if...

Stalking is absolutely allowed when it comes to something like this. We're all in it together! Seriously though, 5 more days?! My heart can't handle it!

Not me...I feel like this is a trick to get us to stop worrying. Really though, it's all a massive plot by the Fulbright committee... In reality, they'll announce it when we least expect it...
-
unofficially, yes. The PO gave me my unofficial declination, but said he is willing to help with revisions...so I'm assuming it wasn't the WORST proposal...

THIS IS NEWS. I LIKE NEWS.

At what point today do we assume it's not happening, and we all go have a beer...or 12?

I have. And I just found out that NSF is a no-go; not surprising, seeing as the funding rate for first-time applicants is about 7%, and overall about 15%! I have proposed (and have already began local work) to research the relationship between secularism and the phrase "spiritual, but not religious". I'm specifically wanting to track how this discourse is employed in specific contexts, and for specific social purposes. I do work in Sedona, AZ and Glastonbury, England (which is why I need funding...Britain is expensive!), as the two major centers of alternative religion in the Western world. What about you all?

Me too. Mantz has been incredibly helpful though, so here's to better luck with a resubmission!

thanks! because I totally need to be spending my time making memes, rather than studying for comps, or grading for my class!

Hooray for you calling. BOOO for not actually finding anything out!

It's all starting to make sense. Or maybe my brain is just becoming used to NOTHING MAKING SENSE. This waiting, it hurts.

That's the one I applied for, and I haven't heard anything yet. All Fulbright U.S. student awards, whether for studying or doing full-time research abroad, have the same deadline and announcement dates.

HA! No need to slink. There aren't many of us!

I've been emailing back and forth with him for the last week, and haven't gotten any news on my proposal, whether official or otherwise. I'm hesitant to just come right out and ask about it though...

The final results come in late Spring, but we should hear about initial cuts sometime in February. Also, what is SSHRC? That "H" is throwing me off...
-
I've applied for an NSF-cultural anthropology, SSRC, and Wenner-Gren...hopefully something comes out of all the effort!

I understand entirely. I'm taking my exams in March, solo-teaching two classes, and starting my prospectus. And yet, here I am, waiting, waiting... WAITING FOREVER...

Hey all, I wanted to update you on the on-going conversation I've been having via email with Mantz. Apparently, if we are declined an award, we will likely find out later than those who are being recommended for an award... So, if some people are receiving recommendations, it means that sad times for those of us who don't get any word...

I hope so, Cicero! What is your project about, specifically? I'm coming from Religious Studies, and I proposed an examination of the discourse in which someone claims to be "spiritual, but not religious". I'm hoping to go to Glastonbury, England (where I've done some preliminary work), to help flesh out my comparative project...I also do work in Sedona, AZ. Here's hoping we get good news...or at least, helpful feedback!

Anyone else taking their comps/quals this semester? I have decided that I would rather write 3 dissertations than take theses exams. My committee doesn't seem to agree! I'm in a PhD program in Religious Studies, in the Anthropology of Religion track. We have three exam papers, taken over the course of a week. We get 4 hours for each paper. Doesn't seem like nearly enough time for me to be comprehensive... Anyone else in this same boat???

With the announcements impending for the November 2013 deadline, I figured we need a space to keep each other company...what are your projects?
