Congrats! According to the website, about 33% of second-round applicants are awarded...so you have a good shot! Can you tell us a little about your project? I haven't heard a damn thing!

Nope. Nothing yet. What time did the email come in, Elunia? Wenner-Gren gives great comments! I was rejected once last year, but the comments the reviewers give were absolutely incredible in helping me re-write.

Luce is amazing. One of the faculty at my University is closely affiliated with them, and we have at least 2-3 students every year go to Indonesia from the department.

Yeah, it is a bit different in my field. We are expected to have a strong grasp of 3 main areas of scholarship: theory, our track, and our specialization. For each of those, we create a list of 50-75 books that are supposed to inform our responses. It's a LOT of reading, but luckily, I'm a great note-taker. I'm starting a 4 hour practice here in 8 minutes...wish me luck.

I would be fine doing mine entirely orally...but we have to write first, then defend orally! When are you taking yours?

As someone who is in a RS program in a public university, and studying nothing to do with traditional religion (I work on secularism, non-religion, and alternative religion), might I suggest the reading of The Invention of World Religions, by Masazawa? It is a good place to start in this conversation (though this conversation is already well underway...with some sass, apparently)

nope. last year, I heard on the 7th...so maybe today is the day? Do they only notify people who are declined in the first round?
