  1. Congrats print&draw! Fantastic!
  2. Congrats soapeater and coffeeblack! lots of news today!
  3. I agree with the idea of applying for residencies. That, or see if you can intern with someone or somewhere close to where you are. I know there are also other ways to expand your portfolio and experience in the ceramics world without a BFA. Established artists often need help with their output, especially if they create functional pieces. You should look further out and see if there is a place like that that would also offer room/boarding.
  4. Yes, for making your own decision that would certainly be the best way to go about it!
  5. Congrats lenticchie!
  6. Congrats!!! Sounds like a good place to be! Are the in person interviews necessary?
  7. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeettttttttttt again!
  8. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeetttt!
  9. Yes, congrats pulpandink!
  10. I feel for those of you who haven't heard anything thus far, but don't forget that many schools will not be making decisions until March, late March, and some won't even decide until early April. If you know that your school has already made a decision in your department (or possibly has) then try to make some contact and see what you can find out.
  11. I meant that sculpture can encompass a lot of different things and that your work doesn't require a foundry or some other high tech capabilities. I'm not entirely sure what is going on with Yale's sculpture program, but I wouldn't concern yourself. Yale can still open a lot of doors in the art world and if you can get funding then you should probably consider going. Many people on this board would probably try to go there if they could so I wouldn't read a lot into it. I would certainly try to find out about international funding possibilities, but I wouldn't bring that up during the interview. Just talk about your work, the artists you admire, your process, and ask them questions about their program. Look at past year forums and see if you can find the answers to your questions there concerning Yale. There is a search function at the top right where you can put in Yale for all of Visual Art.
  12. Congrats femnotfem!
  13. It will be a Skype interview this Friday. My interviewer said that they were all meeting to present their "cases" the first week of March- after the interviews. Mine will be this Friday. He didn't offer an option of an in person interview, so I guess they are all either Skype or a phone interview. I was told it was very informal and casual and to be myself- their primary purpose for the interview is to see who will be a good fit for the program and with the other graduate students. So, I'm going to try to approach it in that manner. And thank you for the information on the process!
  14. Good luck! I think that the concerns with Yale sculpture may not carry over into the work that do. If you have any concerns then bring them up during your interview. Don't forget that the interview is for you as well.
  15. Really? What is your source?

  18. I just got an interview request from Carnegie Mellon! Super excited!
  19. Welcome Catz4evr! Good luck!
  20. If its by email then I suppose you may be correct. However, they seem to notify gradually so I don't know about "rounds". I'm hopeful that that is the case, though- their program is probably the best "fit" for me.
  21. That sucks kierstin. How were you notified?
  22. I don't expect any news for at least another week or two so I'm living vicariously through all of you How did the IU interview go? They have a pretty solid program from what I hear and Bloomington is a beautiful town. Indianapolis provides a lot of opportunities to show as well.
  23. I know someone finishing up in that program and it has done wonders for her. She is in serious debt and talked a lot about the struggles there, but is now pretty content with her decision. Good luck!
  24. I believe that they said during the UCLA grad information meeting that each discipline admits 2-3 people per year.
