  1. I did. Right after I got the original alternate email, which had my heart on edge.
  2. I've only been an alternate for 4 days and I'm already antsy.
  3. Wow. I'm sorry Kj002. I didn't even know there as anything going on in Turkmenistan for them to be considering closing the program. I wish you guys had heard about this much earlier.
  4. I'm thinking about it the same way. While I can keep hoping and praying, it does me no good to keep putting other things on hold. If I think of it as an NS, then it'll be an extra little gift if/when I turn to P. And based on the email, I'm holding out for a month before I really move on.
  5. Alternate. Sigh. I suppose I was kind of expecting this. I'm going to keep hope alive, but I'm also going to start the job hunt. There are only two people chosen for Bosnia, I'm not too confident that I'll get bumped up. Edit: Also, the subject line had (A) in it.
  6. I'm in the exact same phase. News will come when it comes.
  7. I'm assuming he's a little bit busy, considering that he's taking over part of Europe. Our PM left, and so I've been redirected to him =\. Still haven't gotten a response to my email though.
  8. Good to know! Thanks for the confirmation about their knowledge. I think we all knew that they had an idea that this was here (and maybe even peruse it from time to time), but its good to hear it from a source.
  9. Cool video-- I can already feel it starting a long youtube train of procrastination for the rest of my afternoon.
  10. I'm so sorry. Sounds like a dreadful start to the afternoon. But thanks so much for all the positivity you've brought to this forum! I'm sure you'll find another opportunity just as great, if not better!
  11. Congrats! Hopefully that means the rest of Europe is following!
  12. If you ignore that this is on the Titanic... and of course there's the best fall back ever
  13. Apparently the dinner I was invited to also includes recommended people who haven't been notified at all. Sigh. False alarm, ladies and gents.
  14. I'm in the exact same position. I emailed him mid last week, and heard nothing.
  15. Y'all, I just got an email from my school inviting me to a dinner for our school's grantees. I haven't a single thing from the commission (and I checked my spam this morning). Sigh.
  16. Crossing my fingers for all the Ukraine applicants out there! I'm hoping that they'd shift you to another location if things continued to go badly. In the case that they shut down the program this year and don't relocate people, I'm wondering if they would still notify the people who would have gone. You could still put on your resume that you were selected for the fellowship, and that (along with the accompanying story of the political situation on the ground) would help you gain admission to another program. Also, it'd be sad to have you wait all this time and then never have you find out if you would have gotten it.
  17. Congrats! Why the terror? This is great!
  18. Today is the day, Europe/Eurasia. I feel it in my fingers. I feel it in my toes.
  19. Congrats! We were all rooting for you!
  20. Wow, sorry to hear all the bad Sweden news! Its a competitive country in an extremely competitive program, so great job on getting this far. I'll be interested in seeing the finalized grant statistics for the country... I find that when I'm in public spaces and have something to deal with, compartmentalization is key. On one hand, its great having people around who can unwittingly pick your mood up (if you like them). On the other hand, its good to have at least one ally with you, or find a private place to quickly have a call with someone back home who "gets it." And remember that while it may feel earth-shattering now, you could very well find something bigger and better down the line.
  21. OMG YES! Thats fantastic. Does that have a similar function to the fulbright? Or can you use it in addition?
  22. Yay for an Eastern Europe notification going out! Congrats, and I hope that bodes well for the rest of us.
  23. I identify completely. You're not alone in this. I feel as though regardless of whether or not I get it, I'll have peace of mind and be able to go back to my regular life. But what helps me is having things I can utterly absorb myself in, because I also recognize that my stress level isn't good for me. Redirect it into working out or something. =\ Obviously easier said than done, unfortunately. I redirected my focus onto the new Scandal episodes, but now that the season is over... I'm back at square one.
  24. That kind of makes me want to ask them, however I'm nervous that I wasn't selected, and would rather hear it from IEE.
