  1. School: Georgia State University Type: Counseling PhD Acceptance/Waitlist/Rejection: Waitlist (fingers crossed!) Type of Notification: Email Date Notified: 2/23/21 DM for POI: Sure
  2. Hope you've heard something since this message! I sent a "thanks for the opportunity to interview" email, and was politely told that I was on the waitlist. Fingers crossed!
  3. Non traditional here, and I totally identify with you. I was told when talking to one POI in particular that my background in international politics could be pitched in a beneficial way, but I won't get my hopes up until I get an actual offer. I think while my job makes me non traditional, the fact that I'm not fresh out of college is also something that gives me anxiety. So much imposter syndrome over here, but I'm pushing through!
  4. School: Howard University Type: Counseling Psych PhD Date of invite: 1/15 Type of invite: Email from POI Interview date(s): 1/21 DM for POI: No, sorry! School: Georgia State University Type: Clinical Psych PhD Date of invite: 1/5 Type of invite: Email from POI Interview date(s): 1/9 (PI), 2/19 DM for POI: No, sorry! Best of luck, everyone!
  5. I haven't heard anything from Fordham either, but they sent an email saying they are aiming to have emails for interviews out by the 19th. Good luck, everyone!
  6. Good to hear everyone's positive news! Especially since I've gotten the opposite. I sent a brief email just asking for an update, and I got the following: "At this point it is not likely that we will be able to upgrade any alternates because the principal candidates have accepted their grant offers. That said, it is in the realm of possibilities that a principal could decline after accepting the award, but it is not a likely possibility." So, time to re-sign my lease, and find a job that excites me half as much as the fellowship would have. Good luck to the other alternates!
  7. That absolutely helps, Sine. =\ I have a feeling I'll be there soon enough. Sigh. Keep the faith! Did any other alternates from small countries do any Google intelligence gathering to find out who your principles are? I feel like a creeper, but there are only two people who make Principle, and I just needed closure.
  8. Its officially been a month since I've become an Alternate. Beginning to lose faith. *opens up USAJobs*
  9. There aren't any other people on the spreadsheet that applied to my country, but thats a pretty great idea. I wouldn't have thought about that at all!
  10. Yeah, I think you're definitely right. But honestly, I don't see my country's ETA program getting any extra funding. So I figure the only thing that would get me a fellowship is if one of the two people declined, and I was chosen =\ Oh well. It's worth an ask, and if its confidential, I won't be particularly shocked.
  11. Quick question: If I was to call Fulbright and ask if the initial two principle candidates have accepted, can they tell me that? I'm an Alternate, obviously.
  12. I'm super surprised that anyone is still waiting at all. Godspeed.
  13. FANTASTIC! I'm so excited for all these turnovers to Principle!
  14. That's wild. Good on you for going ahead with your plans.
  15. I remember someone in the forum was waiting for Oman last week. Don't know if they've heard back
  16. CONGRATS!! hurray for some news finally coming from South America!
  17. Wow, there must be some major troubles going on at Fulbright this year for these notifications to be going out so late. Good luck!
  18. Fulbright- mtvU! That's great! Very unique. What's your project?
  19. Quick post to send positivity and patience to those of you who haven't heard at ALL yet. Don't let the stress get to you! ...And shout out to the alternates. We'll get there sooner than we think.
  20. I don't know if there's anyone on the forum that applied to Oman. But I do know that a couple other countries in your region have heard back. Have you tried emailing or calling the Program Manager?
  21. I say apply. It doesn't seem as if you want to go anywhere but Spain. I might say something different if you said you also had an interest in going to another country. Then you could feel it out and see what seems like the more strategically sound option. But if you're passionate about Spain, then apply to Spain. Those comments that you're getting from other people are strictly generalizations. I'm sure if you asked for an example of someone who fit your description exactly, and still received the fellowship. Even if you're the acception rather than the norm, if your application is stellar, you'll be fine.
  22. I'm giving myself an internal deadline for Fulbright. I'm graduating grad school in a month, and I don't want to be stuck in the mud. So I'm saying that in 1 month, I take a job offer if I have it. It'll probably take a month for me to really find what I want anyway. And then after 2 months, I'm just going to put it out of my mind completely. For you, the timeline might be much more strict. But I don't think theres anything wrong with giving yourself a week or two before you accept grad offers, if you have the time. There's also nothing wrong with having a conversation with your grad school of preference to see what their timeline is, and whether you could accept and still defer in a few weeks pending acceptance.
