NOT EVEN ONE ACCEPTANCE YET? LETS VENT HERE!!
mheroux92 replied to Persis's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I applied to 8 and I'm hoping it's enough. I've still got 5 to hear from...plus my interview today so really, it's 6. Instead, I've tried to focus on looking forward to other things-like the concert I'm going to next weekend. -

I know how you feel, this waiting game is HORRIBLE. But April 15th is less than a month away! -

Well, now I feel dumb. If you hover over the red diamond on the results search it'll show stats if people posted them. How on earth did I not know that before? Geez. -

The page loaded funny for me when I went to look at results, and it was weird because it showed people's stats. And I feel like I was fairly equal to them. But maybe it's just. I don't know. I think I'm really nervous and it's making it worse because I have a Skype interview today too. -

And no, I don't see it on there. I know it's on CSDCAS (well, it's my login for that, anyway) and, like I said, I got an invitation to an open house from them a few months ago....so that means they must have it on file SOMEWEHRE, right? -

Well..now Edfind says they offer admission to 93/380. But I feel like that's unreasonably high percentage for such a good school. -

Okay, thanks! I just kinda had a freak out cause it said my application was in process..then I realized that wasn't the right login. (I accidentally started a second one) but then I re-logged in and it was complete. I think, according to EdFind on ASHA's website, they accept 30/360. So a 1/12. Which is scary. But they may have changed that since I last looked. -

Also-how do you check their portal? I can't seem to find where to log in. -

(I really need to learn how to quote someone like you did with me) but, @arthritiskid, no, I did not get a confirmation email, but I have since gotten an email inviting me to an open house so I would think that they've got my email address. It's so frustrating because this is my top choice but I kinda knew I have no chance. -

I saw that some people were getting emails from Western Michigan. I really really really want to go there, but the same thing happened to me with Wayne State-other people got emails and then I got a rejection one a week later. Well. I'm betting it's the same thing here. -

Another one of my schools-top choice, most competitive according to EdFind-has been sending emails. Last time I didn't get one from a school, got one a week later with a rejection. -

@twinguy7 Thanks! Luckily for me, writing prompts and whatnot have never been difficult. Hopefully it's the same tomorrow. -

Thanks guys I think today was okay-ish for speed for me until about 3pm, then it basically stopped. I was at my externship until 3 so I was okay until then. Now it's like...GAHHHHH. But I've been trying to get ahead on homework for my online classes to pass the time (not just for fun-but because I'm going to a concert next weekend and I can't do it then). I just wish I knew why schools took so long. My undergrad had a deadline of March 1 and had letters out by March 14th. -
I'm so jealous of those of you hearing back, I still have 5 to hear from! (plus GVSU after my interview)

@twinguy7 I'm doing both the writing AND interview tomorrow. I'm kind of nervous but at the same time I just have to be myself and hope it's enough. I also have 5 schools I haven't heard from sooo. But is it me, or does this week feel like it's taking forever already? -

mheroux92 replied to Persis's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
@twinguy7 Yeah it's via Skype. I don't have $350+ to spend on a ticket, which would include missing 5+ days of school (and a day or two of my externship) plus I wouldn't be able to get around Michigan anyway-I'm not old enough to rent a car-and I don't have the money for a hotel either. I'm thankful that they were so accommodating -
I've still got decisions to hear from 6/8 schools-and the other 2 were a waitlist and rejection. I am kinda stressing out a bit. And I have an interview on Wednesday!

speech language pathology decisions?
mheroux92 replied to rubijoy's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Something to consider is what you want to specialize in and what their clinical opportunities are for you. Some places have only two or three easily accessible externship opportunities, some have a special opportunity for more medical, some more school, etc. It is important to consider that they have the opportunity to easily/maybe more difficult-help you get your 375 hours. -

@marshmelos - I'd assume they would because it's something that's relevant to your field...as opposed to a music appreciation course or something.... Tomorrow starts a new week. *Fingers crossed* -

Graduation is what I'm striving for! Because then April 15th will come really quickly...maybe. -
Reviewing old material before starting grad school
mheroux92 replied to Papaya91's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I think the thing I need to review most is the developmental milestones and whatnot. That feels like it was so long ago (and it was-it was the first CSD class I took) and that I do not know it as well as I should.... Too bad I stupidly sold that book back. Thankfully, my phonetics is still in practice, as I had a client last semester and that required me to do a lot of transcriptions. -

I feel like right now-at least at my university- it's the awkward time where you want to ask people if they've heard back from schools-but you're afraid to hear that they're only rejected (and upset them) or, if they've applied to the same school as you-that they've been accepted/rejected and you've been accepted/rejected, or you haven't heard back. I just really want this waiting to be over! -
My name is Michelle. I'm 22 and currently finishing up my undergraduate BA in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Harding University. It's a private Christian college and I love it. I'm currently in my third semester of clinic (our program has that) and it means I'm gone all day Tuesday/Thursday doing therapy at a local school-I have 18 clients! I'm interested most definitely in autism, but honestly I really am amazed by phonological processes and if I could, I would do diagnostic assessments all day, every day. I discovered this field when an SLP spoke to my education class (freshman year I was a music ed. major) and began pursuing this field. I really hope to get into a school in Michigan, where I've got a very close family. My dream is to also become certified in ABA. In my spare time (the little that I have) I like to watch shows on Netflix, go to the gym, cook, and of course-go to church(where I am actively involved). If I don't get into graduate school this time around, I am seriously contemplating going down to Ecuador for a year to intern at the Hacienda of Hope and help teach English in their academy before considering reapplying.
