  1. Also, "10,600" applicants to Yale? Seriously?
  2. You mean I have to wait another week before the Stanford and Rutgers suffering?
  3. What material would that be?
  4. I'm probably visiting earlier than you. It will be hard to choose UConn over Duke, but I'm giving it a fair chance.
  5. I'm anticipating at least a conclusive rejection from Pitt in the mail today.
  6. The one drawback for me with UConn was the "8 semesters of funding." Maybe others received different packages. Even with an MA, it takes about 5 years to finish at UConn, and though you can find other types of funding, that just struck me as a possible negative.
  7. Yes. I've been living with that email since January 13th! The method is beneficial to applicants, but induces more anxiety/complicates a student's ability to respond to other offers in a timely manner.
  8. Stay positive about Virginia! Unfortunately with Purdue they continuously evaluate and re-evaluate applications, so who knows ultimately when they'll get to any one of us.
  9. Oh, I assume Harvard is a no. But I'll cling to delusions for as long as possible!
  10. I saw it after you mentioned it. Granted, it said "preferably," so there's likely wiggle room. In terms of early decisions, that's not the worst I've seen. If I recall, URI requests you to decide by Feb. 28.
  11. Huh, I must have missed the March 15th comment in the letter. Time to look over it again.
  12. So...Stanford (not counting the 3 wicked early postings) should be soon. And maybe more news from Harvard? Anyone have any insight to Purdue?
  13. ...not counting Brown, obviously!
  14. 3 Harvards and now nothing. What gives??
  15. I did. I heard they're accepting a smaller class this year, at least that's what a friend and current PhD in the dept has told me.
  16. I know, and I realize that it sounds terrible when I say it out loud. But hot damn who doesn't want an acceptance from Harvard?
  17. Not gonna lie, I want to be greedy and get good news from Harvard. Not that I have a snowball's chance in Hell, but it'd really cap off the day.
  18. The email itself was very brief, just a congrats and contact us if you have questions, and attached was a letter from the English department and notes about teaching.
  19. The English dept. at UConn emailed me the offer, but it's not reflected on the site yet. Fingers crossed for you shortstack!
  20. There's also a Harvard acceptance up. Well, that's horrible.
  21. Hilarious. Rejected from Brown and accepted to UConn within 20 minutes of each other.
  22. And my rejection just came as well. I assumed it was a no.
  23. No info, but those 3 acceptances are super early, historically. Especially considering that bloody message that states decisions will be made at the end of February.
