    It does not inspire confidence when the grad coordinator describes the campus as "the middle of nowhere". :/

      In a way this could be good - might help you focus on your degree. Living in the 'middle of nowhere' for my undergrad has helped do that for me. (6 hours from any major city/airport, surrounded by nature) However, I'm ready for the convenience of a bigger city. Have you visited the school that you're considering?

      I hated the Midwest. I need a better outlet than drinking and partying. It's stupid.

      nope, not in the midwest. I've lived in SoCal my entire life, and I'm living near LA right now. "Middle of nowhere" would be quite the culture shock. I'm visiting this week actually! :)
